glad I'm back

Overall, I'm glad to be back using TurboTax! It saved me a ton of money as compared to a CPA.
What's great about it: intuitive, fairly easy to use. I feel secure with the results
What's not so great: I wish I could have put in some info without upgrading! There was no need!!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Good solid tax program

The software is really good. I had a question about a tax situation regarding education credits and went to the website seeking advice. I found another person who asked the same question I had. They were told it was not possible to amend their return to change an education credit from a prior tax year. I found it hard to believe so I called the IRS. The IRS agent and I went through my situation in great detail and I was able to amend a previous year's return to change the education credit election. I owed some additional tax and sent that payment with the amended return. I knew there would be a penalty because that tax was paid almost one year late. I then got a note from the IRS telling me they processed the amended return and how much my penalty was. It was worth it for me. I am reluctant to trust the answers given on the website.
What's great about it: Good step by step tax program. Can import from prior tax year.
What's not so great: Returns to top of list in each section instead of previous location in list.

What's great about it: Walked me through with ease.

Usage for 2014 taxes

Don't know why so many changes were made in Turbo Tax procedures for 2014. 'Have used Turbo Tax since the mid-1990s and found this version difficult to find sections or to go back and forth between sections. I was H&R Block trained and Legal Assistant trained for the filing of taxes and this version...what did you do to it??? The Printing of documents was absolutely frustrating. Would take 2 1/2 minutes before printing would begin. Would not print double sided. Would not print at all. Also at least one incorrect English statements made Past years were much better!! Taxes fairly easy to accomplish, then
I sincerely hope next year's will be easier to use. I know you are all very intelligent people to create such a program and I do appreciate your work...just do better please.

What's great about it: Can trust the calculations
What's not so great: Getting around in Turbo Tax difficult compared to previous years.

Used TT for years!

What's great about it: Guided entries. E-filing. Transfers data from one year's return to the next.
What's not so great: Some pages are unnecessary in our situation but TT requires you to answer anyway.

Easier in the past

You should havPortland, ore simply recalled the bad version and fixed it so there wouldn't have been long waits on phone and frustration of missing areas that were on the past version.
What's great about it: quick and fairly easy when you find the right areas
What's not so great: Many categroeies were vague and hard to find. Alo, the mssingparts on our version was a huge hassle and not enough infor

Used Turbotax happily for many years until last year I received many cc fraudulent charges in Intuit's name after filing my taxes. This year i was quite surprised to find Deluxe unable to handle my return. Upgraded easily and at no cost to Premier. Still didn't seem to have a convenient way to handle Supplemental K-1s. Other than that worked well and gave me confidence in the processing & submittal of my returns.
What's great about it: Used before, therefore familiar & comfortable
What's not so great: Surprise that Deluxe no longer adequate for me. Premier seemed unprepared to handle Supplemental K1s

Great Tax Preparation Tool

I have used Turbo Tax for many years and find it a great tool for preparing and filing both federal and state taxes.
The one problem I had this year was that I got to the end of the state tax preparation for filing by mail and realized I had never been asked to make entries for direct deposit of my refund. To do this, I had to leave the step by step mode and make entries directly into the forms/worksheets. Perhaps I would have been prompted if I had chosen to E-file the state return, but I didn't want to use my small refund amount to pay for the cost of the E-file.
