THIS PROGRAM IS THE PIT

THIS YEAR'S SOFTWARE WAS MORE COMPLICATED AND HARDER TO MANEUVER. NOT AS MANY FEATURES/AREAS WERE INCLUDED IN THE SAME VERSION AS LAST YEAR'S. THEY MADE YOU UPGRADE TO A MORE COSTLY VERSION, WHICH WAS TOTALLY UNFRIENDLY. VERY UNHAPPY. WOULD NOT ADVISE ANYONE TO PURCHASE.
What's great about it: SEE FORMS
What's not so great: NOT AS USER FRIENDLY

Turbotax is a great product and I have used it happily for 20 years. This year for the first time I had a problem downloading the state files. I called the service department for the first time and was very pleased with the result. after verifying a few things they set me up with a new state download and verified it was working before they finished the call.
What's great about it: always easy to use
What's not so great: had trouble downloading state

Good overall, a few minor annoyances

Turbotax is a given these days. My return is moderately complicated and it catches things I"d probably overlook. There are a few minor annoyances that I couldn't figure out how to fix. For me, these were as follows: 1. It would be helpful if the program put all my charities in alphabetical order. Some are, some aren't , and I can't tell why. 2. I have some mutual funds or money market funds for which part of the income is from federal sources. The funds provide this information as a percentage of the income. However, I could not find a way to enter this when doing my state return. As a result I overpaid my state taxes, by a modest amount.
What's great about it: Obvious, saves a lot of trouble
What's not so great: A few minor issues

Seems considerably more effortless now. Have been using TurboTax since the early 1990's.
What's great about it: A much more streamlined process than previous versions.
What's not so great: Can't think of any at the moment, just gimme time....

Allready paid for program then ever thing with the state is extra. Both to get state forms and then extra to file them . Makes me want to look for other options. I have used Turbo tax for years but it is getting out of control on the charges!
What's great about it: Easy enough to follow . Helps you with making sure all is entered.
What's not so great: Charge for state is extra .

In the end I know I got the most for my money and from my money with Turbo Tax. I did have some questions as a first time IRA contributor, but the system walked me through it step-by-step.
What's great about it: Walked me through the process step-by-step with clear instructions
What's not so great: The IRA section was a bit confusing for a first time Roth and Trad contribution
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
