Definitely worth it!

This software is fantastic even for more complex filing like we sometimes need. Its almost too easy in a way but that is easily overcome by the ease of going back over the return and inputs. You do have to be diligent when doing this, especially with the investments information. I've been using TurboTax for ten years now and will continue. FAR fewer gray hairs than when I did my taxes by hand.
What's great about it: Really easy and thorough. Picks up a lot of the tax subteties,
What's not so great: Sometimes when going back over items it doesn't give the "extra" information it did the first time.

TurboTax 2014 very straight forward

TurboTax 2014 was my second year of using this product. Overall I was very pleased. Everything went fairly smooth with a few exceptions.
1. It would not import from Quicken unless Quicken was currently open.
2. 2-3 numbers in the 2013 column did not match the actual 2013 numbers for comparison.
3. Mistakenly entered land rental income as Farm Income and could not change the amount to zero. After research found I had to delete Schedule F form-a little concerning.

What's great about it: Fairly easy to install and run.
What's not so great: Would not import from Quicken unless Quicken was currently open. Could not erase Farm Income.

Not happy with the marketing this year. Pricing and how it drops as time passes and how hard it was to get it updated to get back to the old deluxe product. Product is getting harder to use. After this year, I will take a look at other products that are cheaper and just as good.
What's great about it: I have long history of using TurboTax
What's not so great: Hate the way the product was sold this year. I liked the past. I had trouble with the codes on form 8949.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Excellent Tax Software

I use this software for personal use only, but have used Turbo Tax when I had a rental. This software is easy to use, and plenty of good links to help out.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: none
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Frustrated the life out of me

I found the interview process inadequate and cumbersome. It asked about account information that it downloaded from the brokerage firm but did not provide the data being asked about that it had downloaded or a means to access it easily. It failed to inform me that it had applied the insurance payments to the medical deductions and I only found out by accessing the actual document. When I wanted to enter the mileage driven for unemployment searches, it wanted to know what kind of car I owned, when I bought it, how much I paid for it, total number of miles driven, and other nonessential information. It did not ask to review or display documents being filled out such as W2 forms and Unemployment income G2 forms to ensure that it had the correct information (almost cost me over two thousand dollars in taxes and lost returns). In my opinion turbotax’s interview process and form access has gotten worse over the years and the only redeeming feature of the software is that it can access my brokerage account and I shall be rectifying that. Oh and to post a picture for this, it must be an exact dimension or it will reject it.
What's great about it: accessed my brokerage accounts and I didn't have to sort thru the files themselves
What's not so great: akward handling of forms, did not tell how ins. payments were handled. asked about info it downloaded and did not show.

Comprehensive tax software

Generally I found the software comprehensive but more difficult to use than in past years. I could not import from previous year turbo tax returns. Being able to do so would have saved considerable time.
What's great about it: Covers nearly everything
What's not so great: Could not import from last years Turbo Tax return
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Started badly -- ended well

TT got off to a rugged start and I thought this would be my last year. (I've filed witrh TT for 20 years)
TT recovered nicely, downloading all the forms and functionality I needed for free after initially breaking up the product into unusable chunks.
Nice finish to a rocky start!
