Easy to use and makes filing taxes simple. After the first time use all of your basic information and financial institutions are already in place. Simple quick and reasonably priced. I think it is a good value product.
What's great about it: Acurate entry of downloaded information from financial institutions
What's not so great: Computer needs to have the firewall down for contact and downloading of other companies.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Form 8949 Problems
on April 8, 2015

I imported 1099-B information from my brokerage firm. Much of the cost basis information was incorrect. These were all stocks which were defined as "Long term transactions reported on Forms 1099-B showing basis reported to IRS"- thus they were in Part II, with a code (D). When I tried to make the corrections on the 1099-B worksheet, for the adjustment amount (8b), it said the amount could not be negative. For the Adjustment code, which needed to be (B), it said only C, D, or W were valid. So I ended up going to Form 8949 directly and doing overrides for the code in (f) and the adjustment in (g). This appeared to work, and gave me the final correct 8949 forms. When I ran the error check, it showed an "error" for every override I did, saying it then made it difficult to properly evaluate for errors. I couldn't find a way to make the 1099-B worksheet work, even filling in the various adjustments, correct amounts, etc in various ways. I'm sure there's a way, but you sure don't make it very easy. So I ended up with a tax return full of "errors", giving me no confidence of the final product.
What's not so great: Difficulty correcting the cost basis imported from brokerage
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Titles on my 1099R (line 15) do not match your titles. My 1099R showed "State Taxable Amount" and yours showed "Local Taxes Paid" which took me time to find & correct the error since It became a deduction.
What's great about it: Did calculations accurately
What's not so great: Not as easy to navigate as previous years

2014 TURBOX TAX PROGRAM
on April 8, 2015
Posted by: Pickleballman
Other than the sneaky way that TurboTax tried to get extra money from all its' users in the beginning of tax season #which was resolved appropriately# I had problems this year with estimated tax projections for the state of California. I could not find how to have TurboTax project and print my estimated taxes and vouchers for the state for tax year 2015. Also, the only way that I could find to do the same for my federal taxes was to search for "estimated taxes". There was no step to follow in the main portion of the program.
What's great about it: It does the taxes accurately and quickly
What's not so great: Boondoggle with the supplied programs and no estimated for 2015

The program did not work as advertised and I had to spend several hours going through help messages to figure out a fix for the problem. Renaming a file and continuing. Many of the fixes didn't work from the help center.
What's great about it: Walked me through the tax forms pretty well.
What's not so great: Wouldn't download updates or state forms
