Excellent program and service

This program just gets better each year., from the updates to stay current with the tax laws to the ease of doing taxes. I remember how frustating to make sense out of the various boxes and what info was required and what form you had to use to get the 1040 to be completed. This program is just great. See you next year!
What's great about it: The questions and automated filling in the appropriate sections and boxes of the tax forms
What's not so great: I can't find any. I have been using Turbo Tax for a number of years and and plan to continue using this program

TurboTax makes filing taxes much simpler. I have used it for several years with much satisfaction. There has been a little glitch in totaling City Tax Estimated payments the last few years, but luckily I learned how to work around it.
What's great about it: Questions in order of filling out return
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Always did taxes myself until K1's , MLP's and options made it a little more complicated. CPA became a little too expensive. Turbo Tax capacity to import financial data from brokerages, banks etc simplified process and eliminated manual transcribing by the CPA. With a little patience and utilizing some additional resources I was able to complete and file this years return without any trouble. Even with some more complicated financial transactions Turbo Tax was able to guide me through the process.
What's great about it: Simple straight forward. Walks you through the whole process. Import of financial data went smoothly.
What's not so great: Needs to be edited for handling RR Retirement schedules a little.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

MFJ Fed and two MFS states
on April 7, 2015

Overall and excellent program and can do what I need. But fees are getting high with extra for states and e-filing. I ended up mailing my state returns and paying by check along with my federal return (fees for paying by credit card are 2.49% seem excessive. Also the program does not handle my specific filing status without doing mock federal returns to fill in state returns.- I am military active duty and live in Virginia. We file married filing jointly for federal return and my wife files MFS for the Virginia return and I claim Vermont for my state so I file MFS for Vermont. In order to do this, I must fill in a mock federal return for both of us separating income and deductions and then flowing this information to each state separately. It would be a nice feature to be able to select this filing situation on one federal form allowing a worksheet to separate assets for individual MFS state returns.
What's great about it: I can skip the by-question interview and go right to the forms
What's not so great: No worksheet system to separate income for those filing MFS for state returns
Pros: I bought or sold investments

poor function on MAC

The scroll bar kept disappearing, and when I was able to get it to appear, it wouldn't stay long enough to let me grab it. It was so frustrating that I did not enter all of my eligible deductions. Next year I will go to a tax preparer and pay someone else to do it.
What's great about it: populated well from last year's return
What's not so great: scroll bar did not function well. very difficult to navigate
