I believe I maximized my refund!

Overall, I will not attempt to do a tax return by hand again. Without turbo tax I would be at a tax preparers mercy.
What's great about it: I liked the my questions asked & the Side By Side comparison of last year. It deductible was very helpful as well.
What's not so great: A couple of areas were a little confusing on question asked.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Can't print 1040

I needed to complete a return for my son, who has no income or deductions. When filing, turbo tax said IRS does not allow e-filing in this case (no income, deductions, or taxes/refund). When I tried to print to file by mail, turbo tax did not allow printing of 1040 EZ. Program did print the state return (Calif. 520EZ) correctly. After an hour with online help and 30 minutes on phone with rep, we finally were able to search under "open forms" and eventually print the 1040 (but not a 1040EZ). This is a bug and a frustrating time waster. Needs to be fixed immediately.
What's great about it: overall, a good tool
What's not so great: program doesn't allow printing of 1040 EZ in some situations

Easy Process Filing My Return

This year's TurboTax was by far the easiest I've used over the years.
What's great about it: Clarity and ease of use to file my tax return!

Improved Over 2013

Seemed to be smoother than last year's version. It did a better job of handling tax-free bond funds in state tax return.

2014 Taxes

What's great about it: Fed and CA worked as hoped for.
What's not so great: So many added fees !!! Also, nonresident Wisconsin had wrong Capital Gains Calc - this is terrible.

Foreign Taxes

Have foreign tax needs to go to Schedule A or form 8938. Helpful but still confusing as to what to do - credit vs deduction. Must use first 8816 to be recognized by IRS or get nothing. TT needs to be more detailed as to what and where these taxes go.
