Big Help with 2014 Taxes

Turbo Tax did a fantastic job of walking me through the 2014 taxes. The taxes were more complex this year due to K-1 distributions from a trust fund. I will have a similar problem next year.
What's great about it: Walked me through a very complicated tax year
What's not so great: Middle of making return had to upgrade to the next level program

The forced upgrade from Deluxe to Premier version was galling. I had filed prior year returns using the Deluxe edition with the same investment items. The product packaging was certainly not clear in this regard, although I heard the generalities through news items. This is just a more egregious example of your continuous quest to squeeze more money out of your customers (audit defense, "Get your refund now," take the electronic filing fee out of your refund for a small fee (larger than the filing fee), etc.). It gets tiresome, and this latest trick is certainly enough to drive me to check out the competition next year.

Missed Credit

Turbotax did not properly enter information for married tax credit. I caught it, but that would have been a $480 mistake otherwise. It also would not allow me to e-file.
What's great about it: Fills in forms
What's not so great: Turbotax incorrectly filled Wisconsin States
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Excellent Experience

I've been using TT for many years and it has gotten better each year. It has many screens but I suppose that is necessary since the tax laws are so difficult an they have to handle everything. I usually just go to the "do it yourself" way and I save lots of time.
What's great about it: Does most of the work for you!
What's not so great: Many, many screens that need input.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Still Confusing

Return is pretty simple and straight forward. There are some aspects of the return that are confusing to the average person and even with the help from Turbo Tax it is difficult to understand what number goes where.
What's great about it: Good explanations by Turbo Tax
What's not so great: Even with Turbo Tax Explaining many details still confusing

Faster every year!

The bolded words/terms help for people NOT to skim through the details for each form. The additional windows of information are also helpful. Each year it gets easier and easier, as long as there aren't any major life changes.
I've been using Turbo Tax for the past 5 years now. No audits and no problems with e-filing for both state and federal refunds.

Excellent ..... with One Exception

The only problem I had was with a couple of 1099 MISCs that I received from brokerage houses. Turbotax kept trying to make this into sole proprietor income on Schedule C. i finally got it straightened out, but I don't know what I did to coerce TurboTax into handling it properly.
What's great about it: Generally straight forward
What's not so great: Somewhat confusing with handling 1099 MISC from broker

Quick and Easy

Very intuitive software. Asks questions and guides you through what could otherwise be a very complicated process. TurboTax makes it simple.
What's great about it: Uses last year's return info. Downloads documents from financial institutions.
What's not so great: Sometimes confusing on where you are in the process
