Disapointered

I've used Turbo tax for years, but this year I may need to rethink it. I didn't feel like the program worked the way it was designed.
At one point it said there were no error and then later there was.
I had trouble paying for the state efile and I still didn't get a good
answer why. I was able to efile my federal, so it wasn't my internet connection.
What's great about it: Easy to switch between forms and step by step
What's not so great: Problems with paying for state efile - deferred for now.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Still no print option for various summary screens
on April 6, 2015

Turbo Tax has always been helpful to me in preparing my taxes, even though I found a few questions confusing this year, especially in preparing my NC state return. My biggest complaint is that, whenever I attempt to print a summary screen as I go along, it takes me to the print option for the related form. That's not what I want!
Also, it was expensive this year, as I moved to a new state and had to complete 2 different states' tax returns.
What's great about it: Overall, a good experience
What's not so great: I can't print the various summary screens, as I go along.
Pros: I moved, I bought or sold investments

Don't ever change your product name and descriptor. This could have sunk your product.
What's great about it: Comfort in a familiar product
What's not so great: Confusing to find product that I have used for years.

Very good overall

I am 95% happy. It really worked well just like every year. The main problem was that this year the CT (state) alternative minimum tax form 6251 had some problem with it. Turbo tax asked a very cryptic question about what portion of the income (as an out of state employee) was from CT income but with essentially zero explanations of what it means and more importantly how to calculate it and no instructions. I tried putting in something here but it caused an error during error check and then it took a long time to figure out what the problem was. The problem is about apportioning and the actual instructions do not help much either from the state, but this is **STANDARD** and **UNAVOIDABLE** when doing out of state computations: I mean this is not some super special case; anytime an out of state person earns money in a state plus money in other states, they need to apportion it. So turbotax should explain what this means and how to do it or at least take a guess based on the individual W2 forms it already has on file. I just don't understand why this error was in there to start with. Last year I didn't have this issue (I think).
What's great about it: Easy to use and for dummies
What's not so great: Sometimes a cryptic error is very hard to fix

Misleading email filing of federal taxes
on April 6, 2015
Posted by: GwdM
During email filing of federal taxes we were asked to indicate the amount of other income by second filer which in our case is the spouse.
We indicated $1900.00 which significantly increased our federal and state taxes. We had already included this amount in our 2014 return. The increased amounts only showed up after filing federal tax by email. Please help us make the correction.
What's great about it: Normal filing
What's not so great: Misleading message during email filing without resources to fix it

My Friend "Turbotax"

I am so impressed with the ease it takes to make out the tax form. Only frustration I have is waiting for the data needed for the forms. Now that would be an answer to our prayers.
What's great about it: I liked the tranferring ability from last year to this year. What a timesaver! .
What's not so great: Haven't found any need not met. Hard to be wanting all the forms I need.
