Great tool, makes it do-able!

Great tool, great product. Makes the job tractable without having to hire an additional expert.
I wish you'd get the CA return right, every year there's a correction loop with CA FTB.

What's great about it: I file my returns myself with confidence without having to be an expert in every aspect of tax law
What's not so great: I always have a mismatch in my State return, requiring a correction to be done with CA FTB

Good Program

I worked seasonally for HRBlock for many years in Florida. Their in office program was the best. However your over the counter tax programs have their programs beat by miles. As a former professional tax preparer. I highly recommend Turbo Tax to my friends for home use. You've made it very easy to prepare a tax return...even for a novice. I've used it for years.
What's great about it: Preparation of return easy
What's not so great: getting from Point A to Point B without detours

TurboTax and certain situations

Initially TTax 2014 "Deluxe" did not include some fairly basic situations that it did include for 2013, and it would not let one file for those situations without another upgrade. I read about that deficiency months before filing and called TTax about it. I was told that a "fix" was coming out to remedy the situation, and that in the future TTax Deluxe WOULD include all of the capabilities from previous years. Good solution, good job, nice product! Most users have small "side situations" that require full capabilities from the program. We don't need a full blown "CPA version", and we can handle basic situations ourselves. Thank you for responding to this omission as well as you did.
What's great about it: TurboTax worked great as always, but...
What's not so great: My initial copy of TTax "Deluxe" for 2014 did not include some basic situations that were in TTax Deluxe for 2013
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Printing using double sided printer options works ok for many forms, but the voucher was on the back side of page 1 and the Q vouchers printed back to back. Most of the 1040 forms should print with double side printing options. Could you improve the printing options?

Importing W2 from Employer was a complete hassle

There is a lot of circularity to the help, and if the circularity does not work you are out of luck. Even though I have imported easily in past years this year was no go and I had to manually enter my W2. What a hassle

What's not so great: Could not get the import w2 function to work, no help

Used TaxCut for 25 yrs, 1st Year For TurboTax !!!

I used TaxCut for 25 years & finally the frustration got to me. Turbo Tax's benefit for doing State tax returns is far beyond Tax Cut's. I was hesitant to change from Tax Cut, but now glad I did.

Nuveen Municipal Value Fund 1099 DIV form had an amount in box 11 but there was no place to enter it on Turbo Tax.F
What's great about it: overall very good product
What's not so great: hard to correct items to be fixed - didn't know where to go or what was missing
