Thanks for making a great Mac version now. If only the Quicken Mac were as good.

Easy to use. I had to hunt around on my computer and find where the software put my tax file.
What's great about it: Easy for most of it
What's not so great: Don't really have many

Worked well but confusing

I was unhappy to use an expensive version because of one form (schedule D). To make it worse the historical data shown was totally inaccurate for the last 3 years. 2010 was accurate, nothing since. Fortunately i did not have to depend on those figures this year. Anyone with a carry-forward or carry-back could be in trouble if they don't pay attention.
What's great about it: Guided me through the process with little trouble.
What's not so great: Historical tax figures wildly inaccurate. Could have been trouble.

2014 taxes

My Deluxe software had already arrived when the newspapers started carrying stories about the revisions to Deluxe that made it no longer work for many of us. Please don't ever make this unannounced kind of change again! Tell us so that we can order the correct version initially.
The only weak feature I continually run into is doing an estimate for next year's taxes. My tax situation is fairly unusual, I think; I have just finished doing the estimate for 2015, but don't feel comfortable with it.
My use of the basic product over the years has always given me a strong sense of confidence.
What's great about it: Premier sSeems quite similar to Deluxe, which I have been using for 10+ years
What's not so great: Surprise, forced upgrade to Premier

Great experience!

This is the greatest product - makes me feel like a tax pro! The feature that I found most useful is that one can enter as much info at one time as able and then can save and start again at any time. I started chemo-therapy during tax season and am exhausted ALL the time, so I could have very short sessions with TurboTax and slowly make my way through the whole thing at MY pace rather than someone else's. The only con that I can think of is that during the "check" at the end - TT sent me back to some dividend and interst forms that needed additional information - and they had no help for that particular box - I didn't know what to enter and could not find an answer for that particular box on their FAQs page. But that is the only problem I had.
Thank you TurboTax for a great product!
What's great about it: Ease of use, covers all topics well, asks me most of the questions that I need to answer to get to the bottom line.
What's not so great: in the review section, asked for input but had no explanations
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Input process slow, reviewing challenging
on April 5, 2015

In WA, you can deduct excise taxes paid on vehicle registration (one has to know to enter it as property taxes, otherwise Turbo Tax is no help). My 1099B had a sale with code F (took forever to find an override area to enter this). It would be nice to be able to go straight to a form (that looks like the one that will be filed), and enter numbers directly on the tax form, and just have Turbo Tax do the math (to cut the input time).
What's great about it: Step by step guidance
What's not so great: Finding input area and forms (for review) difficult

PTP Disposal Software Suggestions
on April 5, 2015
Posted by: Kittysk
Software should be improved to better handle the dispositions of Publicly Trade Partnerships (PTPs). Although I eventually was able to accurately report the disposition of Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, LP, it took some work to properly split the long term gain from the ordinary income onto the proper forms. It was very frustrating - especially with the "walk through" step by step process - which I eventually discarded and went straight to the forms. Even the community answers conflicted. So improvements are warranted in the software itself.
The problem lies with the way the 1099-B information is tied with the K-1 information received from the General Partner and the step by step process. Also, because of this particular type of disposal, an Internal Revenue Code Section 751 Statement had to be included in the filed return. While I tried using a supporting statement for the 751, the statement was not part of the required filing pages. Finally found the blank page that would be included with the required filing pages.
Intuit could certainly fix this area so that this works not only with step by step properly for reporting this kind of disposition but also improve Help instructions.
What's great about it: Software easy to use
What's not so great: Needs improvement regarding K-1s, 1099-Bs and disposals of PTPs
