Another great experience!

The only problem I had was with several 1099's that did not clearly say if they were addressing pensions or RMD's, but this was not the fault of Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Clear with explanations provided as needed.

Disappointed

I have used TurboTax ever since taxes could be done on a computer! I was severely disappointed, and frustrated enough that I may even try another software company next year.
Hated the new format!!! I felt like I could not see what I had entered in the section broken down - only totals. And to then review that section or make changes had to repeat the whole section pathway rather than making correction on a simple line of entry. Finally discovered the "forms" icon and could do that, but I had to really dig to save $300 in personal property taxes. If I had never used Turbo Tax before, or had some knowledge of what to expect based on prior years, I would have ended up owing a lot more taxes.

I am disappointed about using Turbo Tax for 2014

I am very disappointed about my experience with filing taxes using TurboTax for 2014. I've been using Turbot Tax for 10 years and I feel the quality of the software for 2014 has diminished. The Help content is displayed in a very small font and it seems to be more limited than for the previous year. I ran an error check for federal and state taxes without any error. Then when I was going through e-filing of federal and state taxes, it suddenly displayed an error alert that an amount for one box on one of my W-2 form was entered "0.00" and this entry is not valid for e-filing. Given that my W-2 form was exported into Turbo Tax, I would rather expect this error alert to get fired while I was running an error check. It made me very nervous. To be on the safe side, I went back to a Wages section, fixed the entry issue for my W-2 form, re-run an error check for both federal and state taxes and went through e-filing again.
I used to buy a Delux version of Turbo Tax but this year's Delux version does not include forms for selling stocks, etc. and I had to buy a Premier version but it is more expensive than the Delux is. I also found that if you want to claim "other income", the Premier version does not include a necessary form and you need to "request" it. It does not explain what the "Other income" is and I was wondering if it means that it requires to buy additional forms.

What's great about it: quick way to make taxes
What's not so great: price increse, tax help content is displayed in a very small font, alert for W2 entry is fired during e-filing

Quick & Easy

I have used TurboTax for many years, first online. Then, when I started doing my children's taxes, the Premier version is excellent!
The program is very easy to use, covers every contingency you can imagine, and makes sure you aren't placing information in the wrong place.
What's great about it: The ease of moving between income, deductions, and special circumstances.
What's not so great: None

Reporting a Canadian RRSP to USA

Been using TT for many years, but have to mail return via USPS because TT does not include the 8833 form. If reviewing the 8833, it warns of a fine if not submitted for a Canadian foreign account. Just once, I would like to e-file.
What's great about it: No more 8891. 8938 is easy.
What's not so great: Per IRS rules, 8833 still to be filed, so I cannot e-file with Turbotax.

Generally a positive experience. Difficulties equally due to the program and my own knowledge lack re. taxes.
What's not so great: Need to upgrade to Premier unexpectedly

Quick and Easy

I like TurboTax. It is easy and quick for tax return. I know it is impossible to answer all questions about tax. However Turbo Tax needs to help customer about purchase issues. I filed tax for two states, so I have free download for one state and paid to download for another state. During the time I worked on the final state, my computer scratched. I wanted to finish my work on another computer but I had no way to download the software for state I already paid. I didn't have the account with TurboTax but I have the order number. I know I have the right to re-download the software but unfortunately I have no way to contact Turbo Tax. Finally I had to pay again for the software I already paid.
What's great about it: Quick, easy and detail
What's not so great: Need customer contact services
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved
