Deluxe VS Premier

For general purposes, Turbo Tax is great. I've been a user for ten years. This year a little message screen popped up telling me that I needed to upgrade to the "Premier" version because of an item regarding a Schedule K-1. After downloading the upgrade, the income contained on my Schedule K-1 was part of a retirement plan, therefore, the dollars are not reported. Perhaps a note of distinction can be added so that unnecessary program upgrades can be avoided. This will save the cost of purchasing a more complicated version.
What's great about it: Always quick and to the point
What's not so great: Told I needed Premier program when I did not

Another Year with TurboTax

This is the fourth or fifth year I've used TurboTax. Perhaps it's just the tax code itself, but it seems to be getting more complex and exhausting each year. The federal program is very good, but the state programs leave a bit to be desired. Not all of the calculations carry over between states and it's really a pain to have to go back to a form on the first state to enter information on the second state (i.e. Mo forms for KS residents).
What's great about it: Fairly thorough
What's not so great: Some question were a bit vague and not all calculations "carried over" between forms

Easy to use

Easy! I gather up all the information I need before I start using the tax software. This makes it quick and easy every time! I feel confident Turbo Tax has asked the right questions and filled out my forms correctly without having to wade through the forms myself. Well worth the price!!!
What's great about it: It was easy to refer to explanations of topics and and questions asked by Tubo Tax.
What's not so great: We rent a room in our home. It was very hard to find the place to document our rental income.

Married Filing Jointly Improvements

It would be really nice if TurboTax would allow entry of both spouses W2's and additional data in a Married filing jointly form as normal, then would split that form into two Married filing separately forms for tax comparison. It is a real pain to have to evenly divide deductions such as property taxes and mortgage interest and charitable deductions. I realize that saving in a married filing separately case has to have both spouses with similar incomes.

2014 TurboTax Review

TurboTax makes preparation and filing so much easier than doing it manually. Actually I have used TurboTax for probably a decade, thus the manual process is a distant memory. TurboTax is efficient and convenient. The process of walking me through each category and the transfer of information from the previous year is so helpful.
What's great about it: Easy to use, automatic calculations, transfer of data from federal to states
What's not so great: really cannot think of any
