Improve handling of 1098-T & IRA contributions

Early in the process you have people enter their 1099-Q data, but then very much later on, you have people enter the 1098-T data. This means that for most of the tax return preparation phase, TurboTax shows an inflated amount owe that is worry sum. You should have the program take both forms at the same time.
Re: IRA contributions. TurboTax should provide basis data for both regular and Roth IRAs. Right now, when you contribute to one, it does not provide the basis to the other unless you contribute to both.
You should also include a calculator that shows how contributing to an IRA will affect your return. For example, if you contribute to a Roth, you will owe $X to the IRS, but if you contribute to a regular IRA, you will owe $Y.
What's not so great: Entering this is done too late and inflates the tax I owe.

Not overly happy about the change in forms out of the Deluxe version but appreciated the free upgrade this year. May be an issue next year but at least I will know the rules ahead of time. Always surprising when you have to purchase a State and then also pay the e-file charge, but at least I have the option to print and send. All in all, happy with Turbo Tax
What's great about it: like option of walking through each income and deduction area, or going on my own

I purchased the Deluxe version and it was easy to use. Allowing the system to walk me through the steps made it easy to follow and not miss any items. Really like using the software.
However, I was disappointed that I had to upgrade to Premier version to include two minor stock sales and then also had to spend more money to file my state return electronically.
Overall the product is good. It is easy to use and follow. I will most likely use it again. If not for the issues described, I would have rated the product excellent.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Deluxe version did not handle stock sales so had to upgrade to Premier

As always, makes preparing tax returns easy. We selected TurboTax because it has the code to handle K-1's.

The only thing I didn't like in the program is that when finishing a deduction, the program took me back to the start of the deductions, instead of continuing to the next deduction.
What's great about it: Downlad of investments a time saver
What's not so great: Price and possible higher price nxt year due to package changes

The only way I can file

I have used Turbo Tax for many years. I'm not quite sure I could get through the tax season without it. However, as years pass the capital gains and investments become more complicated. There are times when I can't quite understand how the taxes are calculated without a whole lot of research. Thank goodness, we can direct download from some investment firms.
What's great about it: Steps that lead you right through the process
What's not so great: Somewhat confusing or too detailed.on new changes

turbo shut down

this product did OK until I tried to go to hyperlinks and it would shut down, Then I would have to restart it and retrieve the file.
It happened several times even when I tried to send the file. Something is obviously wrong with the program. I finally got the thing filed but very troubling and frustrating to see this happening.
