Changes to 2014 Tax
on April 3, 2015
Posted by: WorkBEE
Having to beg for Premier status because of 1 issue, a small royalty income that used to be in the regular Standard package, now I had to download "something" to make it Premier so we could enter ALL of our income, and it turned out to be put in "RENTAL" category anyway.
We have used TurboTax since it was created in La Jolla for DOS users,TurboTax forced us to get Windows sooner because TurboTax was not going to create a DOS version any more.
What's great about it: Still very good, used every year.
What's not so great: Medical legislation made it harder and, and a change in royalty income category.

my turbo experience
on April 3, 2015
Posted by: coolewan
My main problem with turbo tax is the way it handled miscellaneous income and almost forces on into creating a home business / sole proprietor status when that wasnt justified or appropriate for my particular case. This has happened 3 years in a row and its hard to get out of that 'routing' of the fed tax return.
What's great about it: quick and thorough
What's not so great: click on the wrong button and you lose everything you had entered

I would like to be able to easily print some screen views as I work----like the page showing total income and pages comparing current and previous years income/deductions. Also would like to print copy of VISA order for State e-file.
What's great about it: ease of use

Another Successful Tax Return with Turbo Tax
on April 3, 2015
Posted by: JaxMan85
Each time my personal and financial circumstances change, Turbo Tax is always able to meet my tax preparation needs. It's Deductible has always been a great help in managing and valuation of my donations. Turbo Tax has been invaluable for managing my rental property finances over the past years. This year, college education expenses was my new challenge. Turbo Tax did not disappoint as I was easily able to navigate expenses and educational savings account distributions. I have used Turbo Tax for over 10 years and am extremely pleased with the results.
What's great about it: Flexibility and ease of use across many diverse tax situations
What's not so great: Educational expense support could be somewhat better

Good product but privacy concerns exist
on April 3, 2015
Posted by: Anonymous
I used the CD exactly because I don't want Intuit to have access to my personal information. This year I can't print out a copy of my private return without uploading my return to their "print servers" (which, of course, are unnecessary for me to print locally). I plan to cancel automatic purchase of Turbo Tax for next year unless I hear that they have corrected this intrusion on my privacy.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Can't print on Mac without uploading data to TurboTax

Making Life Easier
on April 3, 2015

I'm 80 years old and have been using TurboTax for years. It gets better every year. It gives me a lot or confidence because it's clear that, with the help of this software, I'm going to get it done right. That's important because my husband is very ill so that I don't have a lot of time and don't have him to consult.
What's great about it: So well organized that everything makes sense.
What's not so great: I wish I could have downloaded a checklist of all the categories I'd need to review BEFORE I started keeping records.
Pros: I moved
