If you own stock and misc investments, this is a great service. It downloads the info from the source and fills out the forms. No more guess work as to what form to fill out, and what number go where.
What's great about it: The auto download of financial documents
What's not so great: slow to start

very smooth

This year the filing was extremely smooth. There were no "errors" that made no sense with regard to form 1116 and various "errors" where explanations were required.
A very good job of updating from 2013 to 2014.

why have to repeatedly answer already answered questions? why at end have to fill out blank unused forms just because they were used last year.
What's great about it: easy to use, accurate-effective
What's not so great: unnecessary repition

I could not even print my return. Every time I tried to correct something it would not let me. Frustrating experience. Lots of fance displays but not to the point so you could get on with the job.Frankston, Texas
What's great about it: none
What's not so great: confusing and unresponsive
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I have 1099 Misc income from gas and oil royalties. A very small amount. When I use the prompt for 1099 Misc income I always end up on schedule C but I only need schedule E. It is a pain to undo it once it's already done. I'm going to try to remember next year to skip that prompt and go to the real estate prompt.

Turbo tax is a big help

Way easier than by hand, But
-Too many updates and slow
-Does not return to exact form back from easy steps for a quick fill in.
What's great about it: Retaining last year's info and quick calculation
What's not so great: The stripped down version that was sent out early and needed updates.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Alabama return needs a little more work

If an accrued interest amount is entered on a tax exempt interest entry the sch B addition will be incorrect and it will not match the interest line 6 on the ALA 40. Work around fix is to not enter the accrued interest on tax free interest since it does not enter into the tax calculation anyway.

EACH ;YEAR I FIND IT EASIER AND EASIER TO USE TURBO TAX. CARRYING OVER DATA FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR IS AN OUTSTANDING FEATURE.
What's great about it: TURBO TAX WAS EVEN BETTER THIS ;YEAR. THE REQUIRED DATA WAS IMPUTED VERY FAST AND THE CALCULATIONS WERE EXCELLENT. I
What's not so great: THE SOFTWARE ASKS FOR AMT INFO THAT IS DIFFICULT FOR ME TO RETRIEVE
