Easier to continue working with awkward approach than learning a new program. Would not recommend to new users. I hate the way it forces you to go to another screen on dividends and interest to enter simple data. Then when you get to itemized deductions and you would like to enter more detailed entries, you need to put your detailed data on an excel sheet to add things up and keep the detail. I hate the way it's difficult to get outd of the print screens, at least in windows 8.
What's great about it: Easy to build on previous years. I have learned to work with the cumbersome way it works.
What's not so great: Lots. generally awkward to use, forces needless steps.

I love TT and have been using if for years. I use the Premier version and it is user friendly. It saves me high accountant fees and a TT representative is always available.
What's great about it: Guidance is always available, and you can call a representative to help.
What's not so great: Sometimes it will ask for the same info several times.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Very well done

This year went much smoother than in past years. Had a complicated tax year, but the software handled everything smoothly. Had very few issues with 'missing' information at the end. Imports went very smoothly, much better than in previous years. I put off doing my taxes thinking it would be a terrible chore, but instead it went very smoothly. Linux support would be nice. I have to keep a windows machine for the sole purpose of running turbo tax every year.
What's great about it: Had complex tax issues, but handled with ease
What's not so great: No linux support
Pros: I moved, I bought or sold investments

Don't Fix Something That Isn't Broken

For many years using this software has been a pleasant experience, and for the most part it is still easy to use.
The additional security added to access your own return if you take a break proved to be an annoyance, and from my point of view unnecessary.
I owed on my Federal and had a refund on my State, yet was not allowed to e-file my State while mailing my Federal returns. Whether this is a factor of regulations, or just a quirk in TurboTax is not clear. Either way, this was not a positive experience.
Additionally, one screen stated that my payment to Federal had to be received by April 15, yet the printed return states that the payment only needs to be postmarked by April 15.
These issues will not keep me from using TurboTax next year, I would just hope that items as basic as these are more clearly defined in the new software.
What's great about it: Still provides a good format
What's not so great: The added security required to access your own return was unnecessary and very annoying.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Takes a lot of complicated data and makes it easy for the user to wade through the whole process. IT ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECKS THE WORK. I like the ease of transferring the info to the state return so efficiently.
What's great about it: ease of use; thoroughness; accuracy
What's not so great: nothing
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Love TurboTax

I having been using TurboTax for years. I use to pay people to do my taxes, but it made no sense to pay them and pay the IRS too. All the CPA did was take the information that I had and put in a software program. I could do that! So, I started doing my own taxes, and each year it gets easier and easier.
What's great about it: Rally Easy
What's not so great: State not free to file

2014 Turbo Tax

As completing process you have to agree to the audit then you proceed to file and the audit is added to the final check out for state....seems like twice....so I paid for it once at closing and then removed it at the final checkout for state. I hope this was correct.
If anyone reads this I'd like assurance that I have paid for audit protection....
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Final review to print to audit to final submission confusing
