Easy Return

Overall excellent. There was only one minor program hangup, but just had to re-enter the last couple of pieces of information.
What's great about it: Easy and straightforward
What's not so great: There was one software hangup, but only the last couple of pieces of information had to be re-entered.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

This year was one problem after another

I've always been a loyal TurboTax user. This year tried my patience, and I'm not even counting the flap about what could be done with which version. Right off the bat, the program crashed when trying to save a return. This was proven to be a programming bug and was subsequently fixed. I waited 4 or 5 weeks to start my taxes in hopes the forms would be finished and the program bugs all fixed. No such luck. There was still a problem with K-1 income being transferred to the 1040 in 2 different places, meaning it was entered twice. This problem showed up after every update (which was every time I opened the program). Intuit has become the new Microsoft. It was a good ride, but I think I'm moving on. Bye Intuit.
What's great about it: Well, it did import my info from last year...
What's not so great: Major program problems out of the gate, late program/ form updates

Great job again this year

Never had any problems ever in years past. This is the first time ever that there was a problem. I entered all of the information from our W-2s EXACTLY the way it was printed on them. After everything was done and had E-filed a form popped up for me to fill out and print off. It was for us to pay our local school tax.
I knew that that was not right so I rechecked my W-2s and looked how they were entered into TurboTax and everything was exactly the way they were on the printed forms. I manually added up the school taxes that were withheld and looked at my E-filed return and noticed that the filed figure was way short of the actual amount that had been withheld and entered.
This additional form for my state school taxes said that I owed over $300.00 more. When I manually recalculated what I owed I discovered that I actually only owed an additional $1.92.
I contacted the Ohio Dept. of Taxation and they said for me to fax copies of my W-2s to them with all of the documentation, which I did. I didn't hear anything from them for quite a while so I emailed them back wondering what was going on. Apparently they are going to deduct the reported tax due amount and then they will refund the over payment, some day. Swell!

Overall excellent product. Well worth the purchase price.
What's great about it: Easy to follow
What's not so great: Some questions were answered by individuals, instead of TurboTax and their answers varied and sometimes conflicted.

Overall a Great Tax Program

I've used TurboTax for years, and overall it is a great tax preparation program. It is thorough, and will generally hit all of the tax situations which are applicable to you. It does the math and will find any errors that may exist. However, it could be improved. Most sections ask if you want to review or edit the information - but instead of a summary page, you have to walk through the whole tedious 'question and answer' input pages (sometimes several) to review. While you numbers are saved, the questions show up with no answer, causing you to wonder, "what button did I click before?" Of course, you can review the forms, but not always is all the collected info listed there. Granted, the program is made to be easy - but in "dumbing it down" there are assumptions made. One of those is that if you have retirement income, you have no tax withheld (this was in the estimated tax section). My company allows withholding via a W-4, but I could not enter this into the estimate without tricking TT by putting in pension $ as wages. Little things, but given the huge pain the tax code has become, TurboTax does a really good job helping one get though it!
What's great about it: Program walks you through all areas to insure everything applicable is addressed.
What's not so great: Reviewing information can be difficult, as you must walk through all the questions again. Not all assumptions apply.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

An efficient and painless way to file all my taxes at once.
What's great about it: does calculations and form population for me
What's not so great: had to look for specific deductions that used to come up automatically
