I feel that TurboTax guided me through a minefield of confusing directions and regulations. Though I am not very computer literate I found this program easy to use. Liked being able to call up help aides without leaving my work page.
What's great about it: Guided me through a process I thought I could not do on my own and gave me the confidence to do my own tax filing!
What's not so great: Reviews can be confusing because they show only parts of pages you have not seen before.

Confident that I filed correctly!

Overall, TurboTax really gets the job done! Taxes get more complicated every year and I could not attempt this on my own without it. Saves me hundreds of dollars in Tax Prep fees.
What's great about it: My return is pretty complicated but it captured it all. The downloads from financial institutions are a lifesaver.
What's not so great: A few of the details don't transfer to state returns creating errors that I have to fix

Nothing but Problems

What's great about it: All the changes in the IRS Code
What's not so great: Trying to print a return is like pulling teeth you don't have!

Generally convenient

As usual, tax preparation was easy with this software with a few exceptions:
- In the past it was possible to import security purchase and sale information from my financial institution using TurboTax Deluxe which was a great convenience. This year I had to purchase Premier for this feature. As far as I could tell this was the only Premier feature that I needed; everything else could be done with Deluxe. Please consider returning the data import feature to Deluxe.
- When following the step-by-step procedure, the instructions regarding allocation of tax-free interest and dividends to states seem to be inconsistent. During the error analysis phase I must go back and input the required data because those questions had been bypassed by the program. I know that the data is needed but did not get the opportunity to input until the error analysis phase. This has been a chronic problem with TurboTax as long as I can remember.
- Please make clear that to print my return for filing by mail it is necessary to exit the program and print from memory.
What's great about it: Generally clear and easy to use
What's not so great: Several spots where instructions were not very clear

2014 Taxes

easy to download and use. only took 3.5hrs for me to complete my federal and state.
What's great about it: Explainations are easy to understand
What's not so great: cost to efile state
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

2015 TAX SOFTWARE REVIEW

THE SOFTWARE IS GOOD AND AS FAR AS I CAN TELL, IT IS ACCURATE. BUT, THE SOFTWARE DID NOT TRANSFER DATA FROM LAST YEAR'S TURBO TAX TO THE CURRENT YEAR. A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT AS I WAS UNABLE TO MAKE YEAR-TO-YEAR COMPARISONS WITHOUT ENTERING 2013 DATA, WHICH I CHOSE NOT TO DO. LET'S HOPE NEXT YEAR THE SOFTWARE DOES IT AUTOMATICALLY.
What's great about it: SPEED AND CLARITY
What's not so great: DID NOT TRANSFER DATA
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax 2014 - Easy

I have investments that I have accumulated over many years and Turbo Tax 2014 made the calculations and filing situations correct and quickly.
What's great about it: Walks you through the most difficult aspects of filing a Federal personal income tax return with ease.
What's not so great: None

What's great about it: Import of fidelity txns, carryover of prior yr info, tax calculations
What's not so great: trouble with 1040 estimates, and electronic filing of 2 states -- had error getting resident state to accept dd info
