Turbo Tax Review

I was surprised by Obama Care investment tax and that I had to pay AMT
What's great about it: Thorough in all areas
What's not so great: Doesn't show what all is going on behind on the actual forms.

Capital Assets

2013 Taxes used the Deluxe version to do Capital Assets, but had to buy the higher priced Premier Version for 2014 Capital Assets. Why the change ? Will continue to use Turbo Tax but disappointed that they moved Capital Assets.
What's not so great: Deluxe v. Premium Version
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Have used Turbo Tax for many years now. Will see how it s marketed next year for what is included on the different levels of the product next year.
What's great about it: Able to download most tax information
What's not so great: Just the confusion of what Turbo Tax was trying to change.

Used TurboTax for last few years. I do a detailed run thru on income but a semi-detailed on this first pass thru. It is hard to get back in a few days later to edit a generality with the detailed data. Then I have to continue on from there to re-answer all the following questions. Secondly, I had no farm income as I have no farm, but I had to answer a question on non-reported farm income. Quite confusing.

I have used Turbo Tax for many years and will continue to do so.
What's great about it: Loading data from prior year and listing various items like charities and income sources so I do not forget or overlook
What's not so great: This year, DeLuxe did not include Schedule D and I had to purchase upgrade which was later to be refunded. Unnecessary .

I find the use of turbo tax quite straight forward and nearly as easy as giving all your tax records to a tax service.
What's great about it: EASY TO TRANSFER FROM PREVIOUS YEAR
What's not so great: I HAVE TO PAY TAXES
