Almost fun!

My 7th year using T-T, no problems. I love how easy it is to use.

I usually enter manually or download from financial site as the information becomes available between February 1st and March 25th. Very straight forward with "questions" where appropriate.
Note the program automatically fills in the basic info from the previous year's digital tax return. Not only personal info; but, also inserts all asset descriptions (last year $s; no $s for current return) and deductions on the previous year's return (for comparison). Hard to forget roll-over losses, etc.
I have a number of K-1s to report and these have some information hard to find the appropriate space for in the tax return. Perhaps TurboTax, in the future, could provide better guidance to the "partnership investor".

Hard Day's Nite

It took me less than an hour to do my US taxes but because I was unaware of the special requirements for the foreign tax credit I did it according to the guide and spent several hours searching for the reason that it was not working. A warning should precede the guide that even for one category of income the largest credit has to be listed first!!!!!! Also once it is done wrong ,it is hard to back out of the program. Needs a "start over" button.
What's great about it: Mostly very easy
What's not so great: Foreign income/credits needs work to make the process clearer

Easy Step by Step

Walking through the questions step by step helps items not get missed, but Turbo Tax has really improved the navigation from item to item outside the step by step method over the years. I can now just jump to where I need to work without going through all the questions when I know what I'm doing in a certain section. I can then go back to the question method if I'm less knowledgeable about a certain topic.
What's great about it: Step by step method
What's not so great: Answers are simple - hard to find an answer to a detailed question

Easy to file

I was especially pleased with the patient, knowledgeable and efficient way in which a problem was solved for me by Customer Service representative Kristina. She spent all the time necessary on the phone to solve the problem.
What's great about it: Easy to follow instructions guided me all the way.
What's not so great: Difficult to find customer service phone number.

I've been using TurboTax for years and love it -- very user friendly. I have just one suggestion regarding an item that came up for the first time this year for me -- I disposed of rental property. When the user marks the check-box that he/she sold the rental property in the tax year Turbotax should, somewhere in the interview dialog for that particular rental property, automatically bring the user to a series of screens which reference a 1099-S and which walk the user through the sale of the property. Currently your program treats the sale of the property as just another entry in the property's asset section and it is not all that intuitively obvious that it is here the user should handle the information regarding the property's sale. My view, anyway.
