skipped items are confusing
on April 1, 2015

When there is a topic and I know (or think) I should enter info
and it has already be entered by TT from other sources (w2's or 1099's etc, or on state returns from the federal return (long term care credit) instead of just returning to the topic selection list it would be nice if a explanation was displayed..
I normally do not itemize and I have to enter the LTC credit info.
This year I had enough expenses to itemize. When doing a NYS return I could not figure why TT just returned to the topic menu. I spent quite a bit of time figuring it out.
What's great about it: basically very easy to use
What's not so great: skipped items are confusing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

helpful as usual but found a typo/error
on April 1, 2015

The HSA portion was new for us this year. It was frustrating due to an error on my employer's part but then in the HSA inherited part there was a "double negative" type error.
Did you inherit...? yes or no
If you inherited... Type NO.
Something similar to that. Not that big of a deal. We figured it out on our own...but I expect Turbo Tax to be free of glaring errors like that.
Thanks for several years of simplified taxes!!!
What's great about it: Save time and money. Really pretty simple.
What's not so great: The HSA portion
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

My taxes is like "a piece of cake" with Turbotax!

Filing taxes with turbotax is truly easy and convenient. In the comfort of your home, you open a folder with your information and just enter the details. Any questions there is a number to call. It really is easy, convenient and makes you feel accomplished! Like you actually know what it is you are doing! It all makes sense when you print and review, and " vola"! Just like magic - no joke - you are done. The same time it takes you to put the documents together to take to a tax specialist you can put together in a folder at your home and just follow the directions! Thank You Turbotax!
What's great about it: I liked the options to walk me through the entire process. This made the process easy for me to follow!
What's not so great: 1099 B form was not included in the deluxe package - it cause a little anguish until I got PREMIER!

Easy As Pie

Very thorough program. For repeat users however, it would be nice if the program looked and operated the same from one year to the next. That way, one wouldn't have to "re-learn" Turbo Tax every year.
What's great about it: Thorough
What's not so great: Can be difficult to move through.

No Answer from Intuit on problems
on April 1, 2015

I hope that Intuit can do a better job of enabling the printing of the return...
You recommend to e-file the return...well, this time I tried to do that but when I had to fill out a government form based on my 2013 return I was copying exactly what was typed in by Turbo Tax for my 2013 return and the Feds said it did not match what they had on file so I went back to mailing in my return...so you tell me what went wrong...
I sure hope your Audit Defense System works because I bought it this year. I hope that I never have to cash in but if I do it better come through...I think Uncle Sam has 7 years to contest...
What's not so great: I asked a question that other customers were asking and no answer...printing the return is always, always a problem...
Pros: I bought or sold investments

2015 Fed MN ILL Return
on April 1, 2015

When you go to edit last year's charities, then are in random order, I suspect it is as they were added and deleted over the past years. If this could be ordered alphabetically, this would greatly help!
I do not understand why, after I have entered a donations to an existing charity, after you enter "Done" you are returned to the top of charities and not where you left off. I get tired of entering donations and having to page down to go to the next contribution / charity. When you have a good number of charities this is a hassle.
When you choose a charity, on the next screen it has a statement "add another donation". This is misleading between adding another donation and adding a charity. I believe it would be better stated as "add another contribution form".
There is no search mechanism for find and go to a charity. This would be helpful if you have several charities to ensure you go to that charity and add contribution / donation forms. Also it would prevent potential duplicate charities
Please go through your help text. I noticed a couple of misspellings or incorrect words. Sorry I did not note all the ones I saw.
What's great about it: It was easy to start with last years return and to do 2 different state returns
What's not so great: Entering deductions is cumberson

Completed Like a Pro !
on April 1, 2015

I was nervous when I first started out. Although I majored in Accounting and used to do tax returns the "old school" way a long time ago, the convenience and trust of having tax returns done the right way the first time via electronic means or any automated computer way was the last thing I would have recommended to anyone. Turbo Tax proved to be the exception! I gotta tell you ! This software was well thought out and programmed. Good on ya Intuit !!!
What's great about it: Walked me through every step of the way
What's not so great: What is there not to like ?
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments

Whoa! Wow! Refund!
on April 1, 2015

Turbo tax really helped me think through my tax situation and got me a substantial refund. Keep up the good work, Turbo tax!
What's great about it: I liked the detailed questions. It made me feel more secure to know that my situation was covered completely.
What's not so great: I didn't care for the return to review page after every section. I found it repetitive.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
