Filled out all of the questions but in this yedars program they nevedr tell you that the tax form was sewnt and you don't a confirmation number, time sent as was given last year , don't know actual status of my tax form has it been sent or not?
What's great about it: easy to fill out
What's not so great: How do you know tax has been sent by E file

TurboTax works great with exceptions

I like TurboTax, but sometimes it will put you into a situation that you are almost unable to get out of. It pulled a form into this year's return from last year that was no longer applicable. It would not let me e-file until the information was entered, so I had to dig out my old return and entered the old information. Fortunately, it worked and my e-file went through. Very frustrating. Something liked this also happened a couple years ago.
What's great about it: fast, accurate, guides you throught the process well
What's not so great: Sometimes you have no way to correct a situation that the program puts you into.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

This was my first experience and it went fairly quickly. I got just a little confused when trying to review the forms with those I had from my last return done by a CPA. I also had a couple of questions i would have liked to have answered while doing the return. I'm sure all is well, and from everyone I know who uses this program, I am in good hands. The help or "tell me more" screen is awfully small to read.
What's great about it: Easily managed
What's not so great: Would love a "chat" person available if I have a question.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

2014 Tax Returns
on March 31, 2015

Instructions to correct errors on MLP K-1 entries are very confusing. Instructions refer me to the data entry on various Federal forms, rather than telling me to correct the data that I entered during the data entry process. Also, entering MLP sale information is confusing; descriptions used by Turbo Tax do not match descriptions typically used on the K-1s.
I would not recommend Turbo Tax to anyone who has MLP K-1s, without advising them how difficult entering that data will be.
What's great about it: Relatively easy to enter data from 1099s, W-2, and the like.
What's not so great: Very difficult to enter data from master limited partnership (MLPs) K-1s.

Great except input for foreign tax credit
on March 31, 2015

I had foreign taxes withheld on stock dividends, both in my own brokerage account and in a trust account for which data was reported to me in a Form K-1. Your TurboTax input format for this data (taxes withheld and the gross dividends from which the taxes were withheld) seemed much more complex for 2014 data than for my 2013 return. I feel that I never was able to input all the correct data and that my credit was understated. I tried to input correct data directly into Form 1116, using the override function, and seemed to produce a "correct" result, but chose to abandon that result when TurboTax told me that I could not file my return electronically
if it included overrides. I asked TurboTax for help, but got no response. The additional tax dollars involved here were insignificant for me, but my frustration level was high. Why can't you provide a simple tabular input format for the data required for Form 1116, rather than this year's complex question and answer approach?
What's great about it: Loved electronic input for securities sales
What's not so great: I had trouble inputting data for Foreign Tax Credit

Long-time user, cannot think of another way to do taxes!
What's great about it: Imports and compares previous information
What's not so great: Genearates a lot of printing if you choose to print everything
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
