MAKE IT SIMPLE AND DIRECT NO STRAYING QUESTIONS. LET ME FINISH THE QUESTION AND THEN ASK ME OTHER OPTIONS ETC. NOT PUZZLE ME WITH OTHER QUESTIONS BEFORE ANSWERING THIS ONE. MAKE PRINTING SIMPLE: LIKE PRINT IRS TO SEND, PRINT IRS TO KEEP, PRINT STATE TO SEND, PRINT STATE TO KEEP. FINISH.
I HAD DIFFICULTY WITH LONG TERM CAPITAL LOSS CARRYOVER (PLEASE SIMPLIFY).

Having a code D,E, or F in item 16 on my K-1 for a master limited partnership requires me to do another work sheet. This is nonsense.
Also this same MLP which is a Canadian company that is registered in Bermuda. The turbo tax program would only allow US cities, and would not let me leave the address blank or move forward until I picked a US city. Stalemate!
I was able to use Turbo Tax Deluxe last year but was forced to use Premier this time because you took out the investment and rental property from Deluxe.

Works fairly well, most questions are understandable.
Had no trouble with updates - kept product current.
E-filing was very easy..
Had trouble with program saying some lines on schedule B
could not be blank even though no data was entered.

What's great about it: Copies last yrs data forward, fairly straighforward
What's not so great: Help search does not always return topic or options
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I used the premier version because I needed a schedule D to handle my stock market investments which used to be handled by the deluxe version. It seems to me that for this type of investments the it should be capable to be handled by the deluxe program. In addition the fee for filing the state form seems excessive.
What's great about it: Importing of data from previous years returns and obtainining income data from companies
What's not so great: Handling of MA tax free income; Had to always indicate that the inome was was from more than state

My only problem with using TurboTax this year is that I was sent the Premier version, which I do not need. I kept it because it was easier than trying to exchange it. I only need the Deluxe version since we do itemize.

I've been doing my taxes with Turbo Tax for the last five yrs. I don't need to make an appointment, travel out of town to a tax filer and pay as much as 7 time more than what I pay for the program, and hope to take all the paper work needed to file. I can take my time, go back and forth on my taxes to edit as many time as I need and have the convenience to look for any papers I need in preparing my taxes at home. Preparing my taxes after the initial filing became easy for our lives didn't change much each year after that.
What's great about it: A real convenience.
