Up Grade

Easy as ever to navigate. Not happy I had to up grade to premier this year, for estate K-1 reporting. That's why the four star rating.
. I should not have to up grade when I do not own a business.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Had to up grade for estate [k-1]

I use it only because I am familiar. Next year will try different software, since TT tends to have gaps and areas where I still feel like I am guessing how best to handle or interpret.
What's great about it: straightforward, step by step
What's not so great: gaps in steps, answers through community not software, like reading the IRS instructions - often no easier
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Awesome Customer Service Rep

Your customer service rep was very knowledgeable and patient with me and was able to get me past the glitch so that I could complete my filing process. He was very pleasant to visit with while the computer was doing its updating and etc.
I have used Turbo Tax for years and this was the first time that I have had to call for help. I was very impressed with the help that I received!! I will continue to use Turbo Tax and refer it to those I visit with regarding taxes.

Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Overall this went rather quickly and was user friendly. It helped a lot that I have used Turbo Tax for about eight years. I was using a new Apple Laptop and disk drive that I am barely comfortable with, and that caused me more time as I was unsure how to use some of its features.
What's great about it: Time spent was just a couple hours once I really got into it.
What's not so great: A delay was caused when I kept getting a message that said "ERROR BUILDING SCREEN" that prevented doing the Health Ins.

Generally, TurboTax does what it should. It could be a bit more detailed in the help sections, and it seems to ask a lot of superfluous questions regarding things that would not apply to 90%+ of the population, but it does have what it needs.
What's great about it: simple, wizard-driven
What's not so great: not enough detail, help could be better

Turbo Tax & Help

I have been using Turbo Tax for years. This past year I sold my second house and was confused with what forms I needed to use. Thank goodness that the support line was open and the wait time was not bad. She was able to help me find the form and stayed on the phone while I completed what I was calling for.

Turbo tax 2014

The bad part:
I had to pay more for a premium version than last year to get the same features.
Also
The program should state the full cost of all filing options from the start, not only when you are all done.
The good part is the better flow of filling out the return, and as always the ability to download w-2, and brokerage information directly into the tax program.
What's great about it: Electronic download of w-2 and other financial info.
What's not so great: It can import info from my last year return, but still made me type in name, address etc at the beginning.

You have to manually calculate income split
between husband wife, should keep track in
Federal side of software, you are telling it
who owns what; get to State of MO, it does not
translate the information over. Seems like this
would be simple to build in..............'
I am glad TurboTax fixed the software problem
created, by splitting levels of Tax software.
It seemed like entering the 1099 form info
was more difficult this year.
What's great about it: transfers some information from previous year's return
What's not so great: Should calculate percentage of Stock income split between owners, for State tax return
Pros: I bought or sold investments
