Good tax filing software

The software is good, reasonably easy to understand and follow and the guide process is the most helpful, even for those who think they know best.
I had to buy a more expensive version of the Turbo Tax 2014 because of the changes, I didn't appreciate that and to add insult to injury I purchased it at a time just during the so called rebates that Turbo Tax offered, so I was one of the unfortunate that paid far more than I should have because of the rebates offered and for which I am apparently not eligible...!

What's great about it: Simple to use, easy to understand, guided is the best method
What's not so great: Too expensive...I had to buy a more expensive version to do simple taxes!

Please fix the issue as soon as possible, many of the tax payer will be having hard time figuring it out.

What's not so great: Serious Mapping problems between Actual Form and TurboTax prompts

Although I had heard that TurboTax had increased pricing I still went a head and bought the premier - when I had difficulty filing my state return I called customer service and they gave me a state filing free.

As always, the program has all the ins and outs of both Fed and state taxes and quickly keeps up with the seemingly never-ending changes to tax laws.

A breeze to use!

If you're just starting out doing your own taxes, then just follow the menus for each of the areas and you will not have any reason to worry about filling out your tax return incorrectly. Once you've been using the software over time, it's a snap to transfer last year's records over to the next year's return and you'll save a ton of time and effort transferring the data yourself. If you're already doing and comfortable w/electronic banking and bill payment, you can download much of the data you need directly from the company's websites. It's so easy - there's no reason to pay someone else to prepare your returns for you (in the vast majority of cases). A great product!
What's great about it: The format is easy to follow and understand and I'm confident that I left nothing on the table.
What's not so great: I don't have any negative issues w/TurboTax at all.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

More difficult than last year.

I used TTax Deluxe last year but in mid-process this year had to upgrade to Premier to finish.
I was a bit uncomfortable in both 2013 and 2014 versions with all the behind the scenes work going on. Since I could not check progress myself; I had to have faith the return would be correct.
When applying for E-file PIN my application was rejected three times even though it matched the 2013 return data. I wanted to reload to try again before calling IRS but the TTax link was gone.
What's great about it: Like the question-answer method
What's not so great: Forced upgrade from deluxe to premium
