I have been using TurboTax Deluxe for many years. I was very surprises that Sch D and the import of investments are no longer supported in the Deluxe version. But intuit provided a seamless upgrade to TurboTax Premier and the issue was resolved. What will happen for 2015 Taxes, I do not know,
What's great about it: EASY TO FOLLOW
What's not so great: Schedule D, no longer included in Deluxe !!!!!!!!
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I've used turbo tax now for about 15 years. so far it has been quick, easy and safe. It takes me about an hour including installation and update, then all the way through filing. I file online and it provides a status whenever I want one.
What's great about it: quick, easy and safe
What's not so great: I haven't seen any

Did my taxes

For the past several years we have used TurboTax Deluxe and, because we have stock transactions, this year they want us to upgrade to Premier. They fixed this by offering free upgrade, but it was still a bit of a thing. Most people we know fall into the same category as us. Anyway, I've used TurboTax since the '90s, maybe even the '80s. It is easy and reliable. I see myself as a returning customer as long as they keep up the good work.
What's great about it: easy as always
What's not so great: having to upgrade just because I had stock transactions
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Program mechanics need improvement

first time using on an iMac versus PC. PDFs had to be scaled to print all characters on page. Couldn't see how to do this from within program - had to print from a saved PDF. Overall just not as "smooth" a program as last year and prior years. Expected better since had to buy Premier edition versus Deluxe given Schedule D issue. Take the VW approach and don't change for the sake of change, only refine where something doesn't work smoothly. Tax preparation is painful enough to not be fighting the tool too.
What's great about it: less ads than last year
What's not so great: mechanics of program poorer than prior years

Problem with Michigan Return

On the first run through, Turbo tax set up my Pension as taxable to the State of Michigan. Because of my age it was not taxable. Had a very difficult time finding the spot to make the correction
What's not so great: Pension for Seniors

I have used TurboTax for many years. The changes to Deluxe were a big inconvenience and I used Premier this year. I download the software and file my returns by mail so having to go online to print the returns makes no sense. This was not the case last year. The requirements to use Schedule C-EZ should be changed to last year's format. If you do not have a 1099 misc. and only have non 1099 misc income, the software tries to make you upgrade to Home and Business. This was not the case last year. I meet all the requirements for C-EZ and should not have to use Home and Business which will just result in Schedule C-EZ anyway. TurboTax should consider a user committee if you do not already have one to evaluate major changes before they are released. People tend to use the same software every year to do their taxes as long as they are satisfied with the product. You are risking a continuous revenue stream (almost like an annuity) by making significant changes without informing the users. If people get dissatisfied and change to a competitor, they are not likely to come back. If you have a profit problem, increase the price of the Deluxe product. If you can't increase the price because of competition, find another way that doesn't risk alienating your customer base.
What's great about it: Once things get going TurboTax works fairly well. Telephone support personnel are generally very polite, try to help.
What's not so great: The changes in Deluxe requiring upgrades. Having to go online to print through TurboTax.
