OK, BUT NOT GREAT

USED TURBOTAX ANNUALLY SINCE 2010 OR BEFORE. PRICE KEEPS INCREASING WITHOUT EVIDENT INCREASE OR IMPROVEMENTS IN FORM OR FUNCTIONALITY. IN FACT, CALIFORNIA STATE RETURN WAS MORE CUMBERSOME AND CONFUSING THAN PRIOR YEARS.
2013 FED RETURN WAS REJECTED BY FEDS DUE TO IDENTITY THEFT ISSUE WHEREUNDER THIEF FILED EARLY CLAIM FOR REFUND, VS OUR TURBOTAX FILING TRIED TO E-FILE TAX DUE PAYMENT. TURBOTAX AS NO HELP IN GETTING US TROUGH THAT VERY UGLY AND TIME CONSUMING RETURN CORRECTION PROCESS,
What's great about it: FAIRLY EASY TO FOLLOW TURBOTAX LEAD; EASY TO E-FILE
What's not so great: TOO EXPENSIVE; CA STATE WALK THRU IS FULL OF AMBIGUITY, WITHOUT BENEFIT OF EXPLANATIONS FOUND IN FED RETURN

Turbo & ltd. partnerships

Entering K1 data was unavoidably taxing (no pun intended)
Didn't ask if partnership ended and how to handle tax situation this creates.
What's great about it: Handles partnerships fairly well
What's not so great: K1's need more guidance

Oil Lease Info Lacking

As a new oil lease for many this year, I found the directions lacking clarity and wasted a number of hours trying to figure it out. That could have been very easily avoided.
I think that pushing everyone to the cloud solution as a backup is fine, but I also wanted to back it up locally and although not partially difficult I would like to see you add it as an easy option. Also, you used to have an option to burn it all to disc for archive. Now that is gone. That would be nice to have returned too.
What's great about it: Gets it done
What's not so great: Not enough info about Oil Leases for New Leases & Backup options lacking

Always update before you start your return.

I put off updating and started my return. I had a problem and turned to the 'community for help. I found the topic and it was answered, but the fix didn't work. So I called Turbo Tax but had to wait on the line a long time. It turns out that my problem had already been solved, and if I had just updated before starting, there would have been no problem. It was my fault.
What's great about it: Have used Turbo Tax for years. I breaks everything down.
What's not so great: Too long a wait for telephone help.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax is my go to tax software

I've been using TurboTax for about 5 years now to file my own taxes. It's simplistic layout makes it easy to use. I know I can rely on them to be up to date on all tax laws, etc.
What's great about it: They are knowlegeable on all tax scenarios. Simplified and understandable segments in each topic. Ease of use.
What's not so great: Sometimes have minor glitches when filing.
