The easiest, straight forward way to do your taxes. oh and the up graded version is the better way to go. All my info was pre loaded. No mind numbing retyping of all your trivia.

Turbotax could do better with Foreign Tax calcs

One can either deduct Foreign Taxes paid on Sch A or take it as a credit.
For me, Turbotax decided at first to take a deduction. Had I gone with it, my taxes would be much higher. I had to tell it to try taking a credit.
I think they can do a better job calculating both ways and confirming with us the recommended choice
What's great about it: easier than earlier years
What's not so great: you have to ask it to calculate instead of it doing it automatically

My Mother Died and I had more intricate taxes than I had realized with the inheritance. In the middle of doing the 1099s Turbo Tax realized I needed to upgrade to premium, and offered me the opportunity to upgrade while still doing the taxes...for free
What's great about it: upgraded from delux to premium for free while doing my taxes
What's not so great: none

Turbo Tax manages to simplify a government process that is made almost beyond comprehension
What's great about it: Step by step questions cover all the bases
What's not so great: If the government wants RMD amount, it should be a box on form 1099-R

This may be my 15th or so year of using a TurboTax product. As in all years before, the product provided a thorough treatment of the process and easy guided entry. I use the Premier version to assist with business-related taxes and feel the coverage in these areas are spot on and help is right there if I need it. I never complete and file in one session, so I want the software to have easy access points to where I stop. TurboTax works very well for this approach.
What I did not welcome this year was the product download process. Last year's was nearly the same. A very confusing path to get to the product I wanted and it seems that they really want to drive me to working out of the cloud. That is not for me and likely never will be. This year's process almost made me turn elsewhere.
What's great about it: Thorough treatment
What's not so great: Problems getting download

Excellent phone support

I appreciate the 'we will call you back' option instead of having to wait on hold. The customer support person was able to identify the problems immediately and help me with two questions, I was able to progress and finish my Federal taxes within 5 minutes.
What's great about it: Customer support was knowledgeable and cleared up problem in 5 minutes.

Very disappointed that i was not allowed to efile my state return unless i efiled my federal return first. We owed on the federal return but received a refund from the state. Might not make a difference to you but it does to us. I have worked with turbo tax for nine years and this is the first year i can honestly say i was not happy. Will have second thoughts next year.
