Never sure where numbers are going as I sent up Quicken categories and tax codes, but detail imported is confusing
What's great about it: Allows import from Quicken
What's not so great: Import from Quicken is hard to track

I REALLY LIKE TURBOTAX.
The improvement I would like would let me quickly double check numbers from source documents (I do not use getting info electronically - don't trust it after a couple of bad experiences with Quicken). This would let me burrow deeper on a particular number if I want to. For example I enter total medical expenses from a Quicken report. This new type review would let me start with the total allowed deduction, like what is shown in your "I'll Explore On My Own" approach, but then let me bore down step by step to see where the number came from, including individual tax category entries.
AND I WOULD LIKE YOU TO SHOW MY TAX BRACKET SOMEWHERE. I use this in my IRA withdrawal planning strategy and it is effort to dig it out now.

What's great about it: Covers everything well that I need - well except my single K-1 in the Deluxe addition.
What's not so great: I'd like to see a feature that takes me back thru any topic - top down for checking, rather than thru original steps.

Possible error? I was unable to get mileage deduction for charitable contributions.
Otherwise, a fairly complex tax report was completed thoroughly in one day!!!

What's great about it: Easy to use, detailed, follows logical path to tax calculations,possibility to override
What's not so great: Too many versions: KISS: maybe two versions...one for basic ,simple tax report;the other for everything else.

Some paperwork is dificult to understand.. the way Turbotax walks you through them is worth the cost.
What's great about it: Form help is great ..
What's not so great: Unnecessary question sometimes but no big thing..

Did an excellent job with a complex return

Excellent for complex investment situations. Had an energy LLP which converted to stock this year which created a great deal of complexity. The software handled it well as well as everything else also.
What's great about it: Liked the explanations when you were unsure if something applied to you or not.
What's not so great: Nothing

Worse release ever

I have used Turbo Tax for many many years and this by far was the worse release ever. Asked questions it already had answers for, didn't ask questions it needed answers for, tried to efile like I did in many previous years but continually rejected it. Then stated it will give you instructions to mail it which it never did, it only provided instruction to efile. Premier edition wasn't really Premier, it had to be upgraded in the middle of it. I will consider other tools in the future considering all the bugs should have been fetted out at this late stage in the game.
What's great about it: There aren't any due to incredible frustration level this has caused
What's not so great: efile rejected numerous times and would not give instructions to file by mail

OK experience

This software works very well for most routine tax situations. I've found that when I have something a little different than normal the software sometimes is very difficult to decipher, especially when you have a 1099R that is not normal or a K-1 that is out of the ordinary.
What's great about it: easy to navigate through the entire return/returns
What's not so great: very difficult to fill out the K-1 information ... Help!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
