Not as happy as usual

Since we file a join return I would expect the software to ask to import information for both names. It does not. It was a great product when it was first released but it has become harder and harder to use each year.
Also... it insists on me asking it to complete the Florida income tax return even though we have no Florida state income tax. It eventually tells me there is no need. Duh!
Now, you make me use a different nickname just to rate you. REALLY? Not very customer focused.
What's great about it: I don't have to write all the numbers on the forms
What's not so great: I have used Turbotax for 20 years or so. It has become harder to use over the past few years.

Our Joint & Mom's Last Fed Returns
on March 26, 2015

No problems, seemed the same as online TT used in prior years. However, when we tried to efile my Mom's return after her death, the IRS first rejected it because we used wrong birth date. After we fixed her birth date, the IRS rejected her return for wrong 2013 AGI, which was correct. We were then unable to get an IRS PIN from the IRS phone # in several attempts, since it would stop accepting numbers that we entered via our cell phones before we got to the end, i.e. SS#, DOB, filing status, street number, etc. We also tried the IRS PIN website several times, which kept saying it did not have her info or something like that. We were able to get our PINs from the IRS site for our joint return. We then tried the IRS human phone numbers, but they were too busy to accept calls. Finally, per TT we tried entering 0 as her 2013 AGI, and the IRS accepted her last return. Hopefully, we will get her refund!
What's great about it: All OK on our joint return. Same as online TurboTax used in prior years
What's not so great: Mom's Return Kept Getting Rejected by IRS
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Improves Each Year - Great Product

We have a complex return due to having ownership in a small business (K-1s) and my spouse and I both having legit home offices and business vehicles. In prior years, TurboTax didn't quite handle one or two of the fields completely and I had to override the numbers. Since last year, they seem to be handled correctly, which puts my mind at ease.
I do wish there was an easier way than having to do a screen capture to print or save certain non-tax form screens that appear occasionally, but that's not an option. That's not critical, though -- the application seems to be fine-tuned these days and is working great.
One last comment... I haven't attempted an import from Quicken in several years since the last time I did, I realized it had no idea how the numbers should be applied for our particular situation. It would be nice if there was a way to indicate somehow in Quicken which expenses should go towards my direct business deductions, my husband's, or my corporate expense report. I realize every situation is different, though, and don't expect that functionality anytime soon.
Thanks for making taxes easy, Intuit -- nice job.
What's great about it: Ease of use, nice screen layout, transfer and bank import features
What's not so great: Cannot print certain submission or message screens without doing screen capture
Pros: I bought or sold investments

No more headaches

I have used TurboTax for close to 30 years, have never had a problem related to forms or math. If you use Quicken, you can make entries through the year that transfer to TurboTax. Tax completion becomes automatic.
What's great about it: Walks you through each step of tax prep. Provides IRS instructions and explanation. Does the math.
What's not so great: none
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

My wife has oil royalties and I found Tax-Cut very hard to use for the royalties.
We have income from Calif. Master Trust and I foud the instructions from CMT and Tax Cut to be confusing.
What's great about it: Easy to use.
What's not so great: Schedule E and D are very hard to use. Very misleading.

Overall satisfied. It makes an unpleasant process straight forward and relatively quick. Very good product. We have used it several years and are happy with it.
What's great about it: Quick and easy with required questions and answers.
What's not so great: Tried to get us to buy more premium products too many times.
