not as good as previous years

Did not ask this year for a possible increase in income for 2015- useful for estimated tax payments. I did not like the fact that prior years info was no longer automatically transferred if you use a disk for Turbo Tax. Not everyone wants information available on the internet.
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: need to return to getting personal info from the PDFform if using the disk.

Estimated Tax Payments on target
on March 26, 2015

I appreciate the format, answer the questions and they appear on the proper form. I did not get a refund, but that is not a bad thing since I pay estimated quarterly tax. I got to use my money all year instead of overpaying.
What's great about it: Have used for years, like all prior years info automatically transferred
What's not so great: It could be my computer, but I had a lot of freezes during my return!
Pros: I bought or sold investments

It's good with some exceptions

This program has a lot of nice features. I like the ease of use but detest when it comes to printing and filing. I always have problems printing specific pages. I used all my ink on trying to print both returns (give me the option of either state federal or both) and got a paper jam (not TT problem) and went to print the pages needed and it would only give me the last pages first - so I have five copies of the last few pages depending on how quick I would cancel print. Also, I know why you are cross-selling the e-filing for state but I think it is unprofessional. It ends up you do file each separately but at first it looks like you either have to file both electronically or both manually. In a few screens the options are clearly marked but why do that unless you coerce enough people into buying this way? The long and short - I would have had enough to print my review if I could have had the pages print properly from your screen print options - possibly an HP problem? I would still need to print my state out for sending but I would have had enough to complete the federal to e-file. I know I could have filed without printing but decided I wanted to print first.
What's great about it: Takes you step by step and navigation has improved nicely over the years but my taxes are also less complicated
What's not so great: I do not like that I can't print specific pages of my returns - game playing of filing fed free but not state

Turbo Tax Highlights

A couple of times I needed to go back to a previous section of the software and check information. When I tried to return to the place I was at prior to jumping back, it didn't take me to the same page. Usually had to start the section from the beginning.
I would really like to see an option for just printing the pages required for paper filing. Appears it will only give you the entire package and then you have to deselect those pages you don't need. A bit confusing.
What's great about it: Well organized and easy to complete.
What's not so great: Doesn't return to previous place when going to old section.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Easy way to file and I would recommend it to everyone
What's great about it: Easy to use most features and easy to e-file,especially if you e-filed previous years.
What's not so great: Sometimes the final return corrections are not as easy to understand as they could be.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax for 2014 tax year

Great product have used for years. Even though this year they made a change on what product to use they quickly corrected it and made sure we were informed. What other company instead of making excuses would own up to their error in writing and correct it.
The simple to use walkthrough menu insures everything is covered that you need. You can skip sections if your sure not needed or you can walk through each item to make sure. This is way better then a person because you see and know how it is done.
If you can read and type there is no other easier product to use. In addition the final check asks you to review certain items to make sure you are getting all deductions allowed.
What's great about it: Simple and easy to use
What's not so great: The changes to deluxe created confusion and problems, but Intuit quickly corrected and admitted they goofed up.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Still Easy To Use

Still believe this is the best software for personal taxes, even including business if you buy the appropriate version. I was especially disappointed that there was no indication upfront that Premier would not include investment handling. The approach of not telling you until you received the annual automatic copy was not a wise marketing decision and almost made me return it and go to another supplier. The only thing that saved the day was the offer of a free upgrade.
What's great about it: Simple, straight forward interview approach
What's not so great: The surprise that Premier no longer included investment handling!
