Once I finally figured out which version to purchase, it was very easy to finish our taxes. Very thorough.
What's great about it: Very thorough and easy to navigate
What's not so great: Deciding which version to purchase.

The software application worked as intended
on March 26, 2015

The software application worked as intended. I did not have any issues with entering data into the application. I had a few new items to enter this year, so I had the opportunity to see that the software application was properly designed for a user who had one or more atypical income sources. It appears the software engineering team did a good job on coding a couple of the little used or lesser used use cases that relatively few users will need to utilize.
What's great about it: The software application worked as intended
What's not so great: Nothing technically wrong with the product
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Tax Planning
on March 26, 2015

I would like to see a feature added that would allow upload of completed current year tax info into a tax planning model for next year based on current year tax law plus whatever is indexed to inflation. This could be similar to the current feature that uploads last year's tax data into the current year program.

Tax return mostly but not all easy

Heard about how you skipped some features in certain versions (for 2014) of TurboTax, and you apparently eventually "got it." Do not do that again! There's always H&R Block, TaxAct, etc.!
Almost every tax situation is anticipated. Only weakness is in handling complicated taxation of partnerships and royalty trusts. (Especially when I got a 1099 Misc from brokerage and instructions by mail from trust for the same royalty.)
As for navigation, you walked me through data entry very well, but I found it hard to figure out how to change something later (such as when I discovered an error or got corrected data from brokerages); when user wants to adjust something already entered, you should explain at once how to do this.
Downloading from brokerages requires hight vigilance; I ended up with duplicate data downloads when I had (for example) "Schwab" in one place and "SCHWAB" elsewhere; a computer is still a dumb machine and needs to be "taught" about such details.
After writing all this, a snag: No way to continue after "Preview my review"!!! How about "All Done" or "I"m done with review!"
Another snag: You say my nickname is too short. I keep entering a longer and longer one, and you keep telling me it's too short!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What's great about it: Almost 100% complete for my tax retirn needs
What's not so great: Some steps unclear, and complicated steps (e.g K-1) very unclear.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax Review
on March 26, 2015

I have used Turbo Tax for years and found it to be very helpful and simple in filing my taxes. I have volunteered with the AARP TaxAide program where they use a different tax program. Turbo Tax puts it to shame due to the ease of data entry.
What's great about it: Questions and entries are simple
What's not so great: None
Pros: I bought or sold investments
