I have used TurboTax for a number of years and have never had a serious problem. Probably the greatest time-saver is the ability to download the necessary information from financial institutions. After one has gathered and organized his documentation, it is a simple process to enter the information into TurboTax., making it a no-brainer to do it yourself rather than go to the expense of having an accountant enter the numbers.
What's great about it: Easy, step by step, subject by subject process. Charitable deduction valuation of values of donated.
What's not so great: What's not to like?

Love Turbo Tax XOXOXO

Its takes me 3 days to go through Every section of our Taxes because of our family needs. But it is Worth EVERY Moment, with the EVER CHANGING Tax Laws. I sometimes have to read "explain this" a couple of times to digest it. But Turbo Tax is Worth Every Penny!!!
What's great about it: I Always Feel Good about doing my taxes with Turbo Tax
What's not so great: It's a little long But that's just me. I go through Everything!!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Gets easier every year

Have used Turbo Tax for many years and the software and ability to complete my tax return gets faster each year. The import feature of my financials from my investment bank is great, saves a lot of time. Will continue to use Turbo Tax every year.
What's great about it: Best feature for me is the financial import feature.
What's not so great: My 7 year old laptop was terribly slow in loading Turbo Tax.

Smooth and Straight

Used TurboTax for both our (my wife and myself) and our graduate student daughter. Very easily worked us through the in's and out's of the education tax credit jungle.

Still best tax product but can always get better

Always confusing when it comes to entering state property tax deductions. Would be helpful when entering tax information regarding dwelling to give a heads up that personal property (vehicles, boat etc) will be entered later.
Regarding standardized vs itemized deductions: Following all income entries, a quick look at how much one must have in deductions to warrant itemized deduction would save a lot of time needlessly entering deductions. Realizing that this deduction information is needed later for state returns, this could be re-calculated at the appropriate point when doing the state return(s).
What's great about it: Have used TurboTax for more than 10 years & intend to continue
What's not so great: Some shortcuts and better explanations are needed

Rolled Out Another Return

I use Quicken for all my Finances and Investment Trades. TT makes it easy to import the trades and all other info so I do not have to manually enter. If you don't understand financial things. Let TT Do It For You!
