easy to use

table of contents in PDF records summary allows me to find items easily. Can handle numerous charitable donations unlike competitors. Includes Hawaii solar credit form unlike competitor.
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: Schedule D removed from Deluxe
Pros: I bought or sold investments

K-1 would only allow a U.S. address. My K-1 was from Bermuda and I couldn't enter that. I had to make up a state and ZIP. Why

great system, but it let me enter the wrong pin information and the returns were not accepted initially.

BACK TO BASIC

I MISS THE OLD DAYS WHEN TURBOTAX (FKA MACINTAX) WOULD ALLOW YOU TO ENTER FIGURES RIGHT ON THE TAX FORM. NOW YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH A MILLION WORKSHEETS FOR EVEN THE SIMPLEST ENTRY ON A FORM. YOU SHOULD HAVE AN OPTION TO NOT USE WORKSHEETS FOR EXPERIENCED PEOPLE WHO KNOW THE RULES WELL.

IRA Worksheets

I give Turbo Tax great overall reviews except in the sections on IRAs when it comes to contributions made to traditional as non-deductible and then converted to a Roth. Every year I have issues with this. It generates a 1099 and I struggle with the forms to get it out of income. Always cost me additional time and I never seem to be able to get it right without multiple changes.

NEEDS IMPROVEMENT

Turbo tax went along pretty well until I got to the K-1's. They didn't have forms to help you with the "activities" from K-1's that had purchased another partnership and you had to show that activity. No where in turbo tax is there an answer to that. Also the state tax asked for information I had no clue on and there was no place in turbo tax telling you where to find it.
What's great about it: Helped considerably on regular taxes
What's not so great: Didn't help much on K-1 and "activities". Problems figuring out where to put State info
