I was unable to review a single page of the return as I did last year. Incidentally this is my 7th year with Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Covers all aspects of return
What's not so great: This year the program seemed much more difficult to use

Could not find

I had a $314 state tax refund received in 2014 for the tax year 2013. Turbo Tax did a calculation that found the refund was not 2014 income. First time ever. I tried to find the worksheet that determined the income was not taxable. Could not. Disturbing!!!
What's great about it: Files 2014 1040
What's not so great: Problem finding an answer

Easy Speedy

I have been using Turbo Tax for a few years now and I find it to be very easy and accommodating. Questions were answered by the drop down menus and explanations were given in short but concise text which made it easier to do the taxes including schedules. Final product is very professionally presented.
What's great about it: Explanations of drop down menus
What's not so great: Had to go to IRS for further knowledge
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments

I've used Turbo Tax for 30 years straight. Love how easy and accurate it is to complete my returns. It gets better every year, especially with investment data. Wouldn't file without it!!!
What's great about it: Thorough, easy, accurate and fast.
What's not so great: Explanation Statement required for Form 1116 should be automatically generated or explained more thoroughly.

more charges for everything

I paid for AZ tax program along with deluxe and then where I didn't need premier before now i had to pay additional for the same situation as in the past. Then I paid to have turbo tax do my AZ although I paid for it with deluxe. Then I paid to e-file. Why not let me purchase it upfront so I'm not nickle and dimed.to death. Also I already paid for the state return once.
What's great about it: I can do my taxes even though my situation is complex
What's not so great: You charge for every little thing even after I purchase turbotax

What a miracle

I am so grateful for Markia, the Turbo Tax pro, who VERY PATIENTLY helped me install over the phone the downloadable version of Turbo Tax. I am a disabled worker with a very low cap on my earned income SGA by SSDI , and who had a Federal Student Loan disability discharge . The consulatation and step by step help from the Turbo Tax pro over the phone saved me from a giant amount of Federal taxes from this discharged student loan debt. I am so grateful and could never have done it myself. I was very scared and did not know what to do and now I can sleep at night!

Very Good with a Caveat

I have used TurboTax for many years and have been very pleased with the program with one significant exception. My wife and I are legal residents in different states. We file a "married filing jointly" federal return, but file separate state returns. TurboTax has no way of efficiently dealing with our state returns since state returns are slaves to the federal return. The only way I have found to deal with our situation is to create a dummy federal return for each of us that feeds our individual state returns. This also means that the state returns have to be paper filed since they do not match any e-filed federal return. This system works, but it is very cumbersome, time consuming and prone to error. I am sure we are not the only ones who encounter this problem.
Other than this specific issue I find TurboTax to be a valuable tax preparation program.
