Hard to find clear info on obscure things such as selling a second home. Finally found the place to enter the data and something finally prompted me to select second home. Once I selected "second home" from the list of possibilities I could never get back to that screen. I want to be able to go back and review all my entries. I feel as tho I have entered the second home twice altho the dollars only show up once.
Other then that, Turbo Tax is straight forward and easy to use.
What's great about it: Transfer info from proceeding years, great for straight forward taxes
What's not so great: Some obscure things, find once, can't go back and find it again.

One caution....be sure to read all of the instructions and remarks that Turbo Tax makes along the way. Otherwise it is way too easy to MISS something important.
What's great about it: After using Turbo Tax for more than several years, it has become easier...except when the Feds make tax law changes!

Program does not handle R.R. Retirement pensions properly for Montana Income Tax (Sch. II, line 22). Using the program to estimate next year's taxes is not very convenient; years ago there was a specific feature for doing that. I miss the Charitable Contributions Summary and the Cash Contributions Worksheet which provided convenient documentation last year. Otherwise, I have no complaints, other than paying taxes.
What's great about it: Step-by-Step process is much simpler than trying to remember everything you need.
What's not so great: (See review)

Review of 2014 TurboTax

Cons: Be more consistent in how user enters data. Contributions: Alphabetize; for longer lists, drop to the bottem of the screen rather than scroll every time. Can's update some instructions, such as printing State Estimates for the following year.
What's great about it: Accurate as far as I could tell.
What's not so great: Not as user-friendly as in the past.

Absolute disappointment.

I was deeply disappointed with the CD version of Turbotax 2015: • it would neither generate pdf's nor print forms if not on-line, without explanation. • it failed to transfer information from last year's Turbotax files • I believe instructions are only clear to me because I'm so familiar with the system, after using Turbotax for over ten years.
A confusing lack of initial clarity forced me to file at least four amended returns to correct errors and recover overpayments, on both Michigan and Federal returns. However, the software failure to print when off-line was the last straw. I will find another product next year.
What's not so great: Failure to print forms unless on-line
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

TurboTax Premier

Premier version covers most tax needs of individual filers and is effective in guiding the user through most forms and issues.
What's great about it: Added features are very helpful and worthwhile. I now plan to continue using Premier.
What's not so great: Deluxe version should have previous features restored. State efiling should be included with the state version fee.
