1. See 'Cons' - it was a hassle. Revisit store for correct version and go thru delete of state software and reload.
2. I did not like searching for the correct form/line/entry to make an adjustment, e.g. change the amount of RMD for 2014.
3. I had a few of these types of transactions.
4. Leave CD in the PC or not????
What's great about it: Complete and thorough
What's not so great: Needed to switch versions due to Sched 'D'

Good and Bad

In general, I like Turbo Tax. However, this year the Iowa return could not be e-filed, apparently due to one form IA 147 that TT did not support. This was not a problem in previous years. This is a great disappointment to me and, if not fixed in 2015, I will try to find another alternative.
What's great about it: TT matches my EXCEL planning spread sheet very closely and, after all the forms have arrived, exactly
What's not so great: There is a lot of work still to be done on the state (Iowa) tax return
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Good - but a few problems

I imported the 1099-Div forms. But there was no provision in the step-by-step review to provide the data for some of the adjustments to state income. There was also no link in the forms view which showed where the data for the final state form came from. I finally figured it out by looking at previous year tax forms. You must augment the data in the downloaded 1099-Div forms to designate additions and subtractions from Federal Income to get the State income.
What's great about it: Overall easy to use
What's not so great: Did not do well with state income adjustments

Basically, very easy to use and deal with. Always use Turbo Tax and have never had a problem with my returns.
What's not so great: Could not figure out what or where to put some information

I'm having a problem finding the page to print out the 2015 ES vouchers. Found the page to prepare but the page for printing cannot be found.
Filling out the 2014 Tax returns was easy following the prompts.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Had to go to the Turbo Tax community to find the answer---Other Tax Situations was not an obvious place to find it.
What's great about it: Very easy to follow and execute
What's not so great: Wasn't obvious how to apply refund to next year's taxes

Returned to TurboTax

For the "average" return with stock/bond investments or rental property, TurboTax is very straightforward. But when oil royalties, oil leases, farm cash-rents, and realted income_expenses are involved, it's exceedingly more difficult. TurboTax can handle it - it's just not that great in explaining how the various entries are related. True: if you dig deep enough, and search the forum long enough, you will eventually find what you need - but it shouldn't be so difficult.
What's great about it: Step-by-step guidance
What's not so great: Difficult to find help when needed
Pros: I bought or sold investments
