K-1's are difficult to do!
on March 23, 2015

My only problem with Turbotax is it tells you to do specific things with your K-1's with multiple entries, THEN it tells you that you have duplicates (That it instructed you to make) and you need to check them. Extremely frustrating and time consuming, I went back over each one severaal times and could not figure out what the problem was. I suppose IRS will make it more clear.
What's great about it: Step by step
What's not so great: Difficult to understand K-1 instructions

Good for US income - Getting worse for Canadian
on March 23, 2015

Turbo Tax does a great job for most aspects of our taxes. However, we have Canadian pension and RRIF income and RRSPs and this year we found errors and omissions in the way these are handled. There is very little help on this. There is also a loop after errors are fixed in the review. It goes back to checking each time and will not proceed to file after errors are fixed.
What's great about it: Transfer in last year, good at doing worksheet calcs
What's not so great: Getting worse for Canadian income/Foreign Tax credit

Turbo Tax Pros & Cons
on March 23, 2015

Purchased Turbo Tax Premium online this year instead of buying CD locally as in the past, then discovered that only 1 platform (Mac/PC) is available. When the CD's are purchased, both platforms are included. If you have both a PC and a MAC this doesn't work!
What's great about it: Easy to use; transferring data from year to year is great
What's not so great: Do not purchase online - can't load on multiple platform devices

Going down hill

1.Required to upgrade and pay for premier then notified that I could have received upgrade free. Then said upgrade was a mistake and deluxe would again handle situation next year. I now need to do something to get some of the money I paid for the upgrade back. We shall see how that goes.
2. The program does not remember where you left off. Always begins at the beginning and you have to go to the next step. This is called the Guided process??
What's great about it: Transfers informaton from last year to this current year.

Glad It's Done

I closed my business 12/31/2013 but there was no way to
close out the C Schedule and communicate that items that
TurboTax was creating on the C Schedule no longer applied.
You entered a 20% reimbursement by my former employer of
Long Term Medical Premiums on the C Schedule as a business income. I should have been able to either add it to MISC or Other Income. It was not business income from my sole proprietor business which was closed prior to 2014.
It's the lack of flexibility on a very minor $ amount.
Also the confusion you created w/ the removal of function from the Deluxe version caused me to delay doing my taxes &
trying to figure out how I was going to do my return since I had already purchased the Deluxe version in Boston & I was now at home in DE. No local seller of your product would help me, but via your web site your support staff downloaded the Premium version. I have no idea what version I'll need for the 2015 return.
What's great about it: I like the structure & completeness
What's not so great: I don't like the Q&A without seeing the actual return documents. There's no way to opt out of something that is no longe
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
