Your product worked as normal. However, the fees you charged this year were dumb. I can't believe you didn't just send me the money back, but no....I have to spend extra time if I want my money back. That is ridiculous. How about you don't up charge us in the first place. I'm considering changing products for ever. There not that much difference and the only reason I don't is the hassle factor, which is now gone. Get your act together for next year.

What's great about it: It guides you through all scenarios
What's not so great: Questions were a little confusing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

Makes my tax preparation so much easier.

My taxes are a little more complicated than the 1040EZ, rental property, daughter in college, etc. I used to do it without help but it took a lot of time researching all the rules and regulations, learning the exact definitions. Turbo Tax asks me some questions and applies the rules. Yeah, I pay a little for the product, but how much is your time worth?

I really appreciate the Turbotax software. Next year I will try to work in Quicken and spread the input over the year rather than work intensively for a short period.
What's great about it: I have used Turbo Tax for years and what really helps is having a comparison of last year's input with that of this year
What's not so great: Cumberson breaking up inputs for farm property where we have farm house rental and farm production.

A Few Minor Issues
on March 22, 2015

As always, I am able to get my taxes done in a few hours instead of a couple of days. This years software was no exception. I did run into a couple of issues. First, since I itemize my health deduction (even though I don't need to), TurboTax should offer to do the same each year, if that's what I want to do regardless of whether it's to my advantage or not. Second, I ran into a bug with the DC State Tax e-file where it wouldn't accept my bank account and routing numbers even though they were identical to what I entered for the Federal e-filing. I got by it by having my return mailed to me by check. All in all, TurboTax is a great help in getting a fast and accurate return.
What's great about it: Thorough coverage of tax categories, including retirement investments.
What's not so great: Should repeat process from previous years, by asking if you wish do do the same this year.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Still the easiest way to file

I am the only one of my colleagues that does my own taxes but, as I see it, by the time I gather all my materials, I might as well enter the data myself and be sure it's done right. I have used TurboTax for may years and appreciate the way it allows the user to be guided or to enter information directly at every step of the way. Although some things have improved with time, I lament that the actual forms are now pretty well hidden, making it difficult to check things over until the very end. Also, some issues have never been fixed in all these years. For example, list entry is as cumbersome as ever - there is no way to copy, move or delete rows of data - things that spreadsheets have supported for more than thirty years! What is particularly infuriating is the way TurboTax has extra charges that are tacked on along the way. Although I didn't experience it, many have complained that features that used to be included in their version now require a paid upgrade. I hate that I have to pay extra to e-file a state return, on top of paying extra for each additional state return. Thank goodness New York prohibits the practice. Too bad I also have to file a New Jersey return. All in all, TufboTax Premium is an excellent software package, but I can't justify giving it five stars until they fix the issues that have been a problem for years. Also, I'm sick of tacked on fees, which should be disclosed at the start of the process.
What's great about it: Comprehensive, tailored to user's level of expertise
What's not so great: Privacy concerns - must log in to use, extra fees are insane
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Program kept asking for a business name.. totally inappropriate. Also the upgrade should not be necessary. Does this set the tone for next years' taxes
What's great about it: walks you through each step
What's not so great: required upgrade is still unclear as to Why
