Much confusion regarding the omission of certain schedules from the TT Deluxe version. Further it is unclear what steps (hoops) I need to jump through to have a portion of my upgrade costs returned as promised.
What's great about it: TT is probably still the best package out there

Like you are holding our hand

It is easy; the software takes you through the sections of income and deductions and you feel like nothing has been left out (as long as you purchase the correct version). When it is finished you feel like you are submitting a return that is correct/legal and gets you all the deductions you are entitled to.
What's great about it: Just need to go with the flow
What's not so great: Not always sure what is being calculated

Did My Own TAXES

Had problem with final review and went around in circle for hours trying to fix and then found out online it was TurboTax problem and it took 24 hours to download and 1 hour on phone on hold. Finally got it entered or fix and sent off. NOW to find out if it went thru OK. Will try another program next year because I was told of programs that are easier to use.
What's great about it: The program asked questions
What's not so great: When you had problem hard to find answer
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I would input a few things at a time.
This worked well, as I could start and save my file as I progressed.

As much as I despise taxes the process never became onerous because I could:
1 Start and stop; just save the file.
2. Return to a section and review easily.
3. Add data as it became available.
4 Had last years information to guide me (i.e. for charitable giving)
5. Go back through the years and look at things like the American Opportunity Credit for education credits.

And I like the fact that I can follow the questions section by section to complete the tasks.
And of course the integration of multiple states and the review process.

1ST TIME WITH TURBOTAX

I WAS SURPRISED AND PLEASED HOW EASY IT IS TO USE TURBOTAX, AFTER HAVING AN ACCOUNTANT PREPARE TAXES FOR THE PAST 30 YEARS, INCLUDING 18 YEARS AS A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER.
I WAS UPSET TO HAVE TO PAY TO UPGRADE FROM DELUXE TO PREMIER EDITION, JUST TO ACCOUNT FOR A MODEST NUMBER OF DIVIDENDS AND INVESTMENT INFORMATION.

Too Much Tax

My tax situation is complicated by investments and rental property, can't imagine doing my taxes without turbo tax. I suppose I could hire a CPA, in fact I may do this just once to make sure I am taking all the deductions I can.
What's great about it: Easy too use, helpful hints.
What's not so great: Price went up. State tax e-filing should not cost extra

loved my ttax this year

TT worked great this year. I saw some bad coverage in the press, but no issues for me. Ive been using tt for over 10 years now.
What's great about it: super simple
What's not so great: i wish i hadnt paid so much tax, but oh well ... not your fault
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
