Turbotax review
on March 22, 2015

seemed a little easier this year, but perhaps it was because i didn't have any stock or mutual fund sales
What's great about it: actually downloaded data for a W2, that is a plus
What's not so great: Wasn't sure on sending payment for Indiana state tax, couldn't find info. Had an issue with 1099-Q and no direct info

1099B - for stock options needs improvement
on March 22, 2015

1099B entry was difficult. Not easy to understand that is where I put my stock option info on short-term capital loss. Last years version of turbo tax Deluxe was easier to use then this upgraded version.
What's great about it: Ability to easily go between forms, and questions
What's not so great: 1099B entry was difficult. Not easy to understand that is where I put my stock option info on short-term capital loss

Disappointed in Changes

I use to get the Deluxe and it would have my stock sales feature in it. But this year the cost went up drastically and now the Stock sale feature is no longer in the deluxe version. And the so called credit they refund back does NOT make up the difference. I will probably be looking for a new tax program next year.
What's great about it: Same great tax program
What's not so great: Changed cost and features

Bug in Turbotax for foreign daytime phone number
on March 22, 2015

My Australian cell phone has a zero in the first and 4th digit, so I had to put my sisters phone number in Los Angeles.
What's great about it: I always use TurboTax, it works well
What's not so great: Sometimes it is painful for foreign residents to get around issues

I've been using Turbo Tax since before it became Turbo Tax and have never had any problems other than failing to attached a W-2 stub to the mail in return.
What's great about it: The guide makes filing easy to keep track of data
What's not so great: some trouble going back to previous screen to correct entra error. had to go back about 3 or 4 screens sometimes

I was quite impressed with my refund

I have used TurboTax for several years now as I like to see for myself how I progress and understand what goes where. TurboTax is very easy to follow; if you have a question, it's easy to find answers or guidelines via the search box. I mentioned that some codes were not explained how to enter. Say 81 in 1099 r. I took me awhile to come up that it should be 8 and the second code 1. I hope I got all right filing my excess IRA contribution. Other than that, I had a very positive experience.
What's great about it: Easy to follow, guides thouroghly, explains
What's not so great: Some codes were tricky to enter.
