Easy Speezie

Very easy to use, didn't need to call help desk! Have been user for over 10 years
What's great about it: Good walk through instructions, upgrading was a snap
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I feel liberated - it's done!

As has been always the case, Turbo Tax leads me through the process quickly and succinctly.
I don't have to spend a lot of time searching the "booklet" or the regs for directions to complete my work.
What's great about it: The quick comparisons of last year's data
What's not so great: Trying to follow Capityal Gains transactions

Not as good as last year

Some areas unable to go back easily. Continually hit the 'back' button and it would reload same page. Had to save page and restart program.

Three points:
1. "Keep up to Date with Tax Laws" screen and its second page.
I declined it. But every time I brought Turbotax up it went through the same two screens. Once is enough.
2. "Print Tax Return for Mailing" screen. When Print is selected, we are then asked what forms to print, including "all required forms". But now the choices are "Save as PDF", "Preview Print Copy", or "Cancel". Should be another option, "Print Now".
3. Navigation through the software was more difficult than in past years, when you could get from one area of the tax preparation to another with ease..

Used to be better

I use Turbo Tax to prepare our return. Our daughters wanted to do their own returns. They used my computer and I was on standby for any questions. They zipped right through. One had sold her house so she appreciated being led through the information she needed to file. They also e filed their federal. Until our state doesn't charge to e file, we send those returns by mail. Only need to finish my mother's return.
Disappointed in Turbo Tax that we have to buy more expensive program if we have a rental or self employed. Will look into other programs for next year.

What's great about it: Simplifies preparing return.
What's not so great: Got a new computer & couldn't load tax records from old computer. Had to re enter everything.

Too Many Silly Screens

Having to upgrade to Premier for Schedule D (before uproar) is bad. Understand for Rental income or Business schedules.
Some of the questions, particularly regarding 1099-DIV, are asked over and over. Correct a typo on the payer name: asks all the questions again.
Lost count of number of screens from Done to E-file. Told to print and review 3 times.
What's great about it: Electronic Download from IRA/Brokerage Accounts
What's not so great: Had to Upgrade; Asked same questions over and over

Wouldn't print before efiling!

After the latest updates, I went to file the tax return and clicking on the "Need to print for review? link open a box that froze. I could only print or save to PDF after the federal efile.

What's not so great: Bugs in printing

Turbo Tax is great!

I've been using them since 2010. I will never go back to doing it myself. TurboTax does all the research and asks all the questions I need to answer. They ask me about potential deductions I wouldn't have thought of myself. Filing the returns is literally just a click on the button.
This is a great product!
What's great about it: Easy to use, covers all details.
