sale of rental home

I had to stumble through the sale of a rental home which was previously used as a second home. I would think that this is a common transaction but Turbo Tax did not help much in determining cost basis. Specifically, whether to use Fair Market Value minus depreciation at the time the property became a rental or the original purchase price, plus improvements, minus depreciation. A simple question, "Was the property sold at a profit or loss" would have saved me a lot of time and record compilation going back several years.
What's great about it: Like the ability to download forms directly from financial institutions
What's not so great: Had to go to IRS pubs to determine what cost basis to use for sale of rental home

No taxes to pay

After reading all the negative reviews for TurboTax this year, I bought H&R Block software instead, but when I tried using it I found that I was too addicted to TurboTax, so went back to my old standby.
What's great about it: Have used Turbo Tax for years

Been using TT since 2003 always great, this year you changed the form selections, you changed the format, and everything that was easy become difficult.

The user must use this program year after year to get the full benefit of the need for previous data and the quite useful comparisons.
What's great about it: Leads the user through the process clearly.
What's not so great: Could be a little better at using info from last year's return

Need better help from Turbo Tax

Did not like the area where I had to list each state where my Exempt Interest Dividends were recorded. After the first page where states were listed it would be nice if we didn't have to go back to the "A" states for each and every transaction. With each box the next state should come up which would make things easier!!!
What's great about it: Basically Good
What's not so great: Needs work on some forms

Patience

Tax returns are really as easy as Income, deductions or exclusions. Turbo-tax does a good job of categorically taking you through each topic of the schematic of IRS requirements. If there is the potential for an income or deduction item you may not know about or remember, turbo-tax is always up to date and will ask you questions and give 'more info' boxes to help you either make a decision or ask the right question to help you decide.
What's great about it: You can save your progress to date as many times as you want and come back to them when you have more time.
What's not so great: having to pay for a State e-file
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

2015 compared to other years

More glitches this year. What happened? Not as smooth as usual. I look forward to 2016 working out kinks.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax always is thorough and makes it easy.
What's not so great: I have become spoiled and this year Turbo Tax was harder to load on my computer, slower, and very slow with updates.

Investments transfer

Sofeware asks to select from following investment house to download. When highlighted, should automatically go to highlighted area then down load upon "enter"
