Reduced value from previous years

I had to buy three versions to complete what one version did last year. This hidden price increase made me a last time buyer of TurboTax.
What's great about it: Same ease of completion of return(s)
What's not so great: Price increases each year.

Two of my brothers used Turbotax this year on my advice. They were pleasantly surprised at the user-friendliness. My difficulty was the time on the phone to access the upgrade to Premier. Once it was loaded I proceeded with no other difficulty. I hope 1099 - B will be included in the Deluxe next year. Otherwise Turbotax met all of my expectations.
What's great about it: Clarity - user-frienly
What's not so great: 55 minute wait on the phone to download the upgrade to Premier
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Keeping it Simple -Even on a Complicated Return

Schedule C input is simple to complete. Especially appreciate the depreciation (form 4562) information that is carried forward. Creating an installment sale (form 6252) was very helpful. The related required forms, 4797 and schedule D, can be confusing. Very grateful that TurboTax knew which lines to fill in and where! Eliminates the risk of misunderstanding the tax law, especially when calculating taxable social security income, or maximum deductible IRA & HSA contributions. Screens are easy to understand and follow. Can stop and restart days later, right where I left off. (Life is full of interruptions!) Have used TurboTax for 15 years and will continue to do so!
What's great about it: worksheets make it easy to review
What's not so great: have to scroll down list of income and deduction screens; doesn't all fit on one page

Much improved

The new process for handling municipal bond mutual fund dividends is now simplified and straightforward. Now I can have one entry for that mutual fund and split out income from my home state and all other states. In earlier versions of Turbo Tax you had to make two financial institution entries: one for your home state and one for other states.
What's great about it: Mutual fund municipal bonds
Pros: I bought or sold investments

WHO'S BETTER THAN ME!

I really enjoyed using the software. I had very little trouble completing the required information. I would love an email reminder of information I should save and organize for myself to make the process even faster.
Most importantly, I loved that I saved over $300 completing the return myself and I feel confident I received my maximum refund.
What's great about it: System was so easy to use and answered all my questions.
What's not so great: Font size of explanation was a little small.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

A 180 break with the past in implementation

This is the 9th consecutive year I've used TurboTax! Up to this year I've been very satisfied with TT. They've changed the interface this year, however. My tax info is very private. I've always turned off WIFI while processing my returns. This year's package requires being logged on to the TT site while in use. It simply does not feel nearly as secure as the previous editions. I will look hard for alternatives next year.
What's great about it: appears to be quality product--I'm confident in the returns
What's not so great: "On-line" execution

I have used TT for over 20 years and have always been amazed at how well a complicated piece of software like this works. Congrats
What's great about it: Worked flawlessly
What's not so great: Some confusion with payment for Pennsylvania
