TurboTax Premier - great product
on March 19, 2015

Some of our deductions (especially health care) require a lot of work to collect and enter the data. This is wasted effort if, after entering it all, we choose the standard deduction. It would be nice if TurboTax would let us enter a rough estimate of our total deductions in some of the 10 deduction categories (Medical and Charitable donations for starters) to see if we're even close to itemizing our deductions.
What's great about it: Comprehensive user friendly interview interface. Imported 1099s. Year to year transfer of data.
What's not so great: Would like a way to estimate before entering deductions.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Very straightforward with some good help sections that clarify each category.
What's great about it: Walked me through the entire process
What's not so great: Had to upgrade to Premier instead of Deluxe

Oklahoma State form is a trainwreck
on March 19, 2015

The gains and loses list for designation of whether they pertain to Oklahoma do not match the sub references..
For edit they are incomplete, some with no names, and unmanageable. Of course flunk the review, and there is no way to correct it.
What's great about it: Federal Return is great
What's not so great: State Capital Gains and loses out of sync

Still the best way to get the job done. I have been using Turbo Tax for many years and would not switch.
What's great about it: I was able to work on the program stop, and come back without starting over. Less stressful for me
What's not so great: A couple of questions were hard to understand what Turbo Tax was asking.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

STATE RETURNS ARE WEIRD
on March 19, 2015

On a NYS return with an overpayment the program printed out quarterly payment forms, as if there was an underpayment.
What's not so great: PRINTED PAYMENT FORMS

Since I have 2 funds that reported Foreign Taxes paid I had a difficult time understanding how to enter these 2 entries to get the Tax credit.
What's great about it: Very Easy to use
What's not so great: Foreign Tax credit is difficult and confusing
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Pretty Easy

After contacting Intuit they did not rush me at all. They listened to my problem and researched and reviewed everthing. They could not come up with an answer that really satisfied me so they had an accountant call me back and the problem was solved. I was not only happy but impressed.
What's great about it: It's less costly than an Accountant
What's not so great: Certain parts got confusing and it did not imput the info needed.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Very straightforward

It was very easy to file the taxes. The comparison of last year to this year helped me find a data entry area that I had made. The only negative was that when I looked at some of the individual worksheet forms, they had only summary information. It was not possible to check the details of how numbers were arrived at.
What's great about it: Import of data, clear instructions
What's not so great: Form worksheets are cryptic, not clear how numbers are derived.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
