This makes tax filing - which used to be a major hassle - easy. I use ItsDeductible on line to keep track of my donations. I make up Excel files for other tax deductions, etc. so I have them right at hand at the end of the year. I have not set-up Quicken to do this, but may do so this year. I do a lot of stock trading and before TurboTax I spent a great deal of time with those entries. Now I just download the information from my Broker, check it, and I'm done. I did have one issue some years ago and TurboTax stepped up and resolved it for me (I had not paid for any extra service).
What's great about it: Use this and ItsDeductible on line for easy tax filing every year.
What's not so great: No problems with the program
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I'll be 90 in August and have always, and still do, work my return out by hand. However, filing with TurboTax is such a relief - mainly that I've done it correctly, and I don't have to go to the PO. Thank you for this service!
What's great about it: All the right questions!

Dear Turbo Tax,
I have used your program for 3-4 years now and find most of it very clearly explained except for the section on K-1 forms, it always seems to give me a problem and I have to go back and redo it. I am not sure how or what to ask for, but this is my only difficult section.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment,
Loray6
What's great about it: Most everything is very easy and clearly explained.
What's not so great: The k-1 forms could use more readiness explanation material.

Got the job done

Most of the common stuff went smoothly. In the section on investment expenses, it casually asked if I used a computer to track my investments and then sent me off on a lot of data entry to only find out that I had to virtually have a dedicated computer for this purpose.... By then it had generated a dozen or so forms and entries that all had to be tracked down manually and purged -- a simple statement with the original question about the computer had to be used for at least 50% on investments would have saved several hours of work...... It is still pretty poor on the handling of investments.
What's great about it: Most entry went smoothly
What's not so great: Sent me on a couple of wild goose chases
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I have never e filed the state form before. I never get a refund from the state so I'm in no hurry. But when I tried to pay for the state return, and sign in it wouldn't accept my email as my ID. same problem with the password. several times when a box came up it just locked up leaving a blank box. I couldn't do anything but shut the computer down.
I have turboTax for the past 9 years
I am retired
Idon't have any goats but I have 3 grown children.
What's great about it: it took me through most of the questions quickly
What's not so great: I couldn't print a mailable state form.

Tax Prep Experience

TurboTax works well and is relatively easy to use if you there are no hiccups. However, it's easy to lose your way if you have to go back and fix something. I ran into issues identifying the 1099 data that was downloaded from institutions where we had multiple accounts. All of the 1099 entries identified primary person as the owner and gave all the records the same institutional name. It made it very difficult to go back and check the data and almost impossible to identify the record associated with a corrected 1099-DIV that came later. I was finally able to come up with an educated guess after looking at the download list. The information I need was there. The account number needs to be next to the institution name. I should mention that none of the copies of the 1099-DIV had the numbers that were downloaded. The other issue I had was that I needed to file an amended federal return but not one for the state since I hadn't filed that one yet. When I checked the amended return box I also got one for the state and it took me quite a while to figure out how to get rid of it.
What's great about it: Greatly fasilitates tax prep with a tool I trust
What's not so great: Download data not identified sufficiently. Easy to get lost.
