Disappointed on Intuit Direction

Will have to consider staying with TurboTax because of its move to extract more money from users to handle basic investments.
I have used TurboTax for over 20+ years, but planning on shopping around next year.
What's great about it: I have used for many years and appreciate the familiarity of the product
What's not so great: Disappointment that Intuit is removing basic parts of the tax code from its product (i.e. investment), unless you pay

The question about if a pension comes from work as a safety officer is very unclear if the police officer has passed and the spouse is receiving the pension. The pension IS from work as a safety officer but not by the spouse,.
What's great about it: easyish
What's not so great: question about police/fire retirement unclear

Too Slow

I had over 1000 records and Turbotax crawled like a turtle, a really slow out-of-shape turtle!
With all the RAM and processing cores I have on my Mac Turbotax should be much faster.
What's great about it: Very Well Designed
What's not so great: Way too slow on my fast MAC

Quick refund!

Made quick work of what could have been a long process. Have used Turbo Tax for over 10 years and like the product. Wish Schedule D had been left on the Deluxe version. Suggest that you program the software for sales of stock, bonds, etc. to recognize when units are being entered for the same fund or stock more than one time to recognize the repeating name and automatically type the name without the taxpayer reentering it for each unit sold. Also, the date. The same programming could be done anyplace a repeating name is used.
What's great about it: Easy to use, quick, no nonsense, accurate.
What's not so great: Had to purchase Premier. too much repetitive typing.

Turbotax dropped my 8606 information about a year ago and I had to reconstruct it.
Also, at the state level it may not have deducted the longterm care premium properly.

I E-filed. When it came to the pin number, I was guided several times for the pin number and each time I received a different pin number???? I hope that this doesn't mess up my return???

I would recommend this software. It helps figure your taxes.
What's great about it: Can search for return errors

Support was amazing.

I had to contact tax support a few times and they were knowledgeable , friendly and put it in terms I could understand better than the IRS publications. Made me confident to complete my taxes using the software over going to a tax preparer.
The tax person that helped me through my first 1041 filing for a trust was unbelievable. His knowledge and assistance was way beyond my initial expectations. He stayed with me until I had no more issues or questions.

What's great about it: Step by step is the way to go to feel comfortable that you cover everything for your return.
What's not so great: I had to buy prremium, small business and state small business just to do my taxes.
