2014 Federal and State Tax returns

I have been using Turbo Tax for my Tax returns for many years and seen constant improvements except this year.
I am completely retired and so is my wife so we don't get W2's any more. Our income is made up of Social security, IRA's and Pensions, which are handled very well by Turbo-Tax.
A few features were cut out of my Homeowner version and put into a "premium" version. This is annoying even though I was provided a free upgrade. My expectation is that next year I will have to pay for the Premium version if I want to get the feature I had before (Schedule "K".) I think its poor business practice to reduce features you have had for many years.
What's great about it: Through, accurate and easy to understand
What's not so great: (see below)
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I sold my home last year, however, the explanation screens were slanted toward 'stock' sales and not proprty sales!
What's great about it: Straight forward
What's not so great: Seems slanted toward "stock" sales instead of other commodities.
Pros: I moved, I bought or sold investments

Stop requiring the latest OS
on March 16, 2015

We have used TT since 2001 and like the product. But, there is too much fluff in the Easy Guide. If a page has no data entry then the page is not needed. Two family members have had to drop TT (one this year, one last year) because on the minimum OS requirements. However, there is nothing in TT that NEEDS the latest Mac OS capabilities. I have 30+ years as a SW developer and learned that the widest range of utility is achieved by using the oldest available technology that can solve the problem without undue loss of performance. TT has some critical accuracy requirements but virtually zero performance needs. You should maintain a greater degree of backwards compatibility unless Apple Inc. forces otherwise.
What's great about it: Straight forward data entry
What's not so great: Too many meaningless pages that require a click but have no data input.

Premier

Finally I found that Fidelity would upgrade me to Premier but had to call Dean at Turbo Tax who shared a screen with me and did much maneuvering to get Deluxe and Home and Business off my computer and get Premier from Fidelity to my computer and once he did lots of steps, Premier did work, but I had many frustrating hours trying to deal with Deluxe and Home and Business. It was a surprise that Deluxe used to do everything I needed. I won't purchase TurboTax next year unless Deluxe is back to what it used to do. I had a few dollars of capital gains that didn't warrant an expensive program.
What's great about it: Generally worked smoothly
What's not so great: I started with Deluxe like I used last year (didn't work); TurboTax staff upgraded us to Home and Business (didn't work)

Been using TurboTax Premier since it was introduced and it gets better every year. I appreciate the ability to be able to "push the envelope" if I wish to be a little less conservative than the typical tax preparation service or CPA. Thanks TurboTax
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Product Support

Problem 1 - I bought turbo tax premiere from costco. I do not have a CD-drive. The instructions said to call an 800 number to get a download of the software. The person I talked to didn't know what I was talking about. she even talked to her supervisor. they advised me to return the costco then buy it directly from them. that made no sense, so I called a different 800 number and got much better support and the download I paid for. it did bug me that the standard script directs them to say "we will give you the download FREE." nothing free about it - I paid for at at costco.
Problem 2 - the program doesn't suggest that you save along the way. I found this out the hard way when the program kept crashing when I was trying to enter car license fees. I called support again and the only solution was to give me another download. I chose not to do that, instead I skipped that section and then went back to it. That worked. Support should have suggested that.
What's great about it: ultimately got help
What's not so great: was told they could only help me if I bought turbo tax directly from them
