I inadvertently selected Alabama as my state when it should have been Alaska. I was on line so Alabama state automatically downloaded onto my computer. I was not able to go back to the states section and select Alaska as my state of residency as it was not an option because Alaska was not allowed because of no state income taxes. Therefore I kept getting many errors for the Alabama return because I did not fill them out. Should have an option to deselect Alabama and select Alaska in this case.
What's great about it: Generally easy to use.
What's not so great: seemed to be lacking on prompts for filling in non-cash charitable contributions.

Filing is No Fun

Had some problems with Royalties. Wanted to double my income for these and did not want to correct. Finally did, but only after a lot of attempts.
Difficult to determine which Turbo Tax to purchase.
What's great about it: Gets the job done
What's not so great: Cannot get Intuit Passwords to work.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

INTUITive Refund!

Overall, the step by step Turbo Tax process was great. Turbo Tax does a great job in explaining every income and deduction section in an intuitive way. Often, it will explain what forms you need and areas to look on those forms for the information you need to complete the return. I was very happy with the process, and even happier with the final federal/state return. There were a few sections where I think Turbo Tax can still improve. Specifically, the section on capital gains can get a bit tricky (I sold my primary home and bought another home), but after a little research through the Turbo Tax help forum and IRS tax code, I was able to eventually navigate through the section. However, hands down, I highly recommend Turbo Tax
What's great about it: Turbo Tax was great at guiding me through each step
What's not so great: I had some questions that were not readily answered

Turbo Tax for 2014

Turbo Tax guided me through the Tax forms this year and help me understand what to do with the tuition payment for my son who turned 26 over the year. His income was less that $3900 so he he could be a dependent on my forms allowing me to deduct the tuition expense. Reporting the 401k roll-overs was easy too. I think I bought the Premier Edition when the Deluxe Edition might have been enough so maybe I spent 20 or 30 too much but it is all done and submitted now. I believe it is correct thanks to the Turbo Tax pre-submit reviews.
What's great about it: Had everything I needed.
What's not so great: A person helping would've been nice.

Overall the experience was helpful, time saving.With all documents gathered before hand my wife I and were able to input the infomation by following the directions. Again through no fault of TURBO Tax ,I need to find allowable deductions to reduce next year's tax bill.
What's great about it: Effective in providing guidance and explaining questions
What's not so great: Expected a lower tax bill or more quallifying decuctions
