Another successful preparation & submittal of my taxes using Turbo Tax. Even better...refunds from Federal & State. Nice.
What's great about it: Ease of reading words on the pages and the flow from page to page.
What's not so great: None.

Another Great Job….BUT,

All went well until the end. Required to file Fed by mail due to empty block 1 on W2. That apparently defaults NY filing to snail mail; yet, the second page of the "Print for Filing by Mail" is a page alerting to a NY requirement to e-file for any return prepared using software. Backing up in the program to attempt an e-file for NY while also printing for a Fed mailing is unsuccessful.
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: last step hiccup

Have used Turbo Tax for many years. Don't know why friends who have simple returns would use any other method of preparing their taxes.
What's great about it: Totally understandable, fast, simple. Love the It's Deductible section to calculate value of donated items.
What's not so great: none
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Mostly Great

Been using Turbo Tax for years and have always been satisfied with the software. However, some of the changes that have made the program more user friendly have also made it more difficult to find things that are not common - i.e. if you don't know to watch for them they are easy to miss.
For example, miscellaneous deductions not subject to the 2% limitation. Previous versions of the software asked if they applied to your return, the current version bundles it with other topics making it harder to find.
What's great about it: Easy to use and covers almost everything
What's not so great: You have to know where to look for items that are not common

Bring back the good old days!

I've used TurboTax Deluxe for years with only one major complaint ... it was so easy that I really lost track of what I was doi ng. When doing my taxes by pencil and paper I agonized over each line but, at the end, I felt I knew what I had done and understood the process. With TurboTax I answered questions and entered data but the efficient software put the numbers where they belonged and I really wasn't "involved" as I had once been. But everything seemed to work out in the end. This year's product (Deluxe) had reduced functionality (read the papers) and the old name. Many people were disappointed. I had to purchase "Premier" and the CD version hung up when trying to access my state tax form. Fortunately the telephone service facility was able to send me the appropriate software to install and everything went smoothly after that ... but I never had a glitch with the old software.
What's great about it: Excellent customer service
What's not so great: Intuit dropped the ball
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I have been using Turbo Tax since about 1994 and I like the improvements I have seen over the years. My taxes have become more and then less complicated, but Turbo Tax has always gave me the tools I needed. Now, with two married sons, I do three returns each with its own complications. In all but a couple of exceptions, Turbo Tax gives me what I need. I suspect that I will continue with it and I hope it will be easy to do my son's transition from military to civilian life for 2015. Keep up the good work…I rely on you.
What's great about it: Thorough coverage. Great information retention from year to year.
What's not so great: Does not handle PA state Military pay correctly. Can't combine 2013 fiancee info into 2014 MFJ return
